The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. The BOG must ask for land from the King of Akyem (Okyehene) to construct this building. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data of the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:
Gold mining
Diamond mining
Cocoa
Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
Timber
Software development
etc
The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.
The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.

I don't think the prof is entirely right in promoting export of banana and other non-traditional exports since these form part of our staples and are becoming increasingly out of the reach of many Ghanaians. Besides, there is huge competition from other producer countries with regards to these already on foreign markets with the result that they are cheaper to buy there than in Ghana. A finger of banana in Ghana is as thin as a human finger compared to what is found in foreign grocery stores because the bigger and best is being exported. Meanwhile, the grapes we buy in Ghana are of third grade. We have many commodities whose prices are very competitive and I agree that what is needed is capacity building with regard to these. Most importantly, this capacity building should include stopping the thievery, corruption, and excessive borrowing.
