Ebola is a scary and deadly disease and that is why the game at Tamale should be canceled. West Africans who have visited their countries lately are being asked by organizations to stay home for weeks before reporting to work in many countries around the world. It is a deadly disease and Mahama and his ECOWAS should take it very serious. I don't get the impression that Mahama gets it, other wise he wont allow Guinea supporters to enter our country. The Africa cup/Ebola should have been on the table for discussion during their last ECOWAS meeting. All it takes is one person and then a whole nation is in jeopardy and so nations are not taken any chances. People are getting scared of providing accommodations for their West African relatives/visitors in the West. At least the Czechs could track the guy down to the station, can we say the same for someone entering Ghana with the same ebola suspicion?

If someone even bothered to check the other side of the story... that student was asked to wait on the airport for the medical screening like everyone else did...especially those that had some of the ebola symptoms. However he ignored it and left the airport and so because of his selfish actions many people could have been endangered. That's why the reaction was as it was. And frankly if he really had had the Ebola virus... what he did would have equaled attempting mass murder.

Every 'journalist' always jumps to wrong and sensational conclusions to get as many readers and reactions as possible... so please next time at least check both side of the story as truth usually lies somewhere in between.

The so-called professor that tried to embellish Nkrumah's economic record needs to go back to school again. These types of socialists' arguments could deceive Ghanaians in the 50s and 60s but they cannot do that now. Nkrumah was the first leader to introduce unsustainable debt into this nation by borrowing massively and unnecessarily to finance his whims and caprices. It was a misfortune that we had such a person as president immediately after the independence. He didn't lay a realistic economic foundation for sustainable development in this country considering the amount of money that was at his disposal in those days.

Ghana had about 1bln dollars in reserve when Nkrumah took over the reins of government in this country. Can you imagine the value of one billion dollars in the early fifties? Again, after 2years of Nkrumah's rue, cocoa prices at the world market rocketed and increased fourfold. But contrary to any sound economic planning, he did not reserve any fraction of the windfall for a rainy day, as the Whiteman had done with only one fourth of the revenue he got from cocoa. So, what did he do with all that money from the astronomical cocoa prices and the big reserve he inherited that took years to build for our future financial stability and sustainable development?

Kwame Nkrumah went on a spending spree both in Ghana and around the world, throwing his weight about and talking big. So when the cocoa prices fell close to the end of his rule, he was quick to point accusing fingers at the West, blaming them for manipulating cocoa prices to sabotage the economy of Ghana and overthrow his government. Finally, after misusing all the money mainly on useless prestigious projects, communist agricultural projects, and whimsical mad-rush industrialization projects, he also burdened the young nation with another billion dollars' debt before he was forced out of this country.

The truth is that, Kwame Nkrumah met a rich country with stable economy and left it nearly bankrupt as a result of gross mismanagement and NDC is about to land our country again in HIPC.

Those days are certainly different from now as the loans today are used for current expenditure like salaries. That makes repayments difficult or impossible. I like your honesty but your economic analysis needs a little more work
The so called white Elephants like the huge silos become so bcos those who overthrew Nkrumah didn't have his vision of using the so called communist farms as a basis for Industrialisation. I believe Nana Addo is currently preaching a similar strategy 50 years after Nkrumah and we are all loving him for that.

This Ebola epidemic should be an eye opener for our leaders. They have neglected heath care to the people for a long time. That is why when they sneeze, they run away to Europe and America for treatment.

We Africans have been stigmatized for a long time. It is now that the stigmatization is going to take place in the open. So all Africans should braze themselves for harsher treatments in the hands of the rest of the world.

If someone even bothered to check the other side of the story... that student was asked to wait on the airport for the medical screening like everyone else did...especially those that had some of the ebola symptoms. However he ignored it and left the airport and so because of his selfish actions many people could have been endangered. That's why the reaction was as it was. And frankly if he really had had the Ebola virus... what he did would have equaled attempting mass murder.

Every 'journalist' always jumps to wrong and sensational conclusions to get as many readers and reactions as possible... so please next time at least check both side of the story as truth usually lies somewhere in between.

Yes, the doctors and police were too forceful. HOWEVER the student was told, just like anyone of any nationality with possible symptoms of Ebola, to undergo a quick checkup. He did not. He ignored it. It is a sad story but mistakes were made on BOTH sides.

Wouldn't you try to save your Ebola free country from the immensely deadly virus? Of course you would.

And just a note about racism: I have a lot of friends. I do not care, whether they are black, yellow, pink or green. Personality is more important than some stupid complexion (yes, it is stupid, why do people even feel the need to judge based on skin colour?) At university, I had a lot of Ghanian schoolmates who I am lucky to call friends.

Please do not do the same thing you are so angry about - judge based on one single thing.

I am very sorry for what happened. Hopefully, it will not happen ever again. You live in a beautiful country and you are nice and clever people, do not get consumed by anger just because the world is in panic.
