  Gone are the days when the teacher was a respectable person in our communities. any time we had yams, guinea fowls or thing like that sort to sell, we first contacted the teachers; after all they had the money. Today it is the exact opposite; nobody respects the teacher because they are among the poorest in society. To compound matters, newly appointed teachers could take two or more years before their payment starts coming. So how do you expect them to live in these hard times? When trace the issue the district officers would tell you it is the fault of the national head quarters. So Mr Tsegah the ball is in your court; get teachers paid their due and promptly and you would see whether there wouldn't be a reduction in lateness and absenteeism. Teachers like everyone needs money to survive; so pay them their due and they would deliver, period
