This is what needs to happened in ghana for things to change.
Consult Martin Skankar of Norway, a fund manager.
A percentage of all revenues from oil, gold, cocoa etc MUST be deposited into a ghana sovereign fund and invested all over the world by the best investment brains. This money will not be touched by any government, ever! Infact, the revenues accrued from this investment will be used to fund pension, healthcare, education, infrastructural projects, roads etc in Ghana.
DON'T Invest in: What companies produce and how they are produced e.g don't invest in nuclear/chemical weapons, tobacco, companies like walmart(humanitarian clauses)
Norway has pretty much built their economy from the oil they have. Their sovereign fund is the largest national 401k in the world!

Being in power now for six years, the NDC has failed again to improve the economy simply because their fundamentals are wrong. In fact, they don't have what it takes to salvage the sinking economy.

Under normal circumstances, political parties are formed to produce leaders democratically. But in the case of NDC, a tyrant created the party with state power and resources to legitimize his illegitimate regime and cling to power fraudulently. NDC is therefore, an artificial and illegitimate party followed by stomach politicians and sycophants.

Your government borrowing huge amounts and the resultant interest payment coupled with your directive to Bank of Ghana to print cedis to meet your financial obligations all contributed to the cedi's fall.

Mr. President, stop gloating like a child because we are not out of the woods yet because even a 2.7 billion dollars infusion into the economy only reduced the exchange rate from $1.00 to GHc3.85 to the present $1.00 to GHc3.20, this is still too high as compared to the beginning of the year when the exchange rate was $1.00 to GHc1.69

As long as we continue to imort more than we export and the government wage scale takes 65% of government revenue the cedi will be at the mercy of other international currencies and don't let the brief increase in the value of the cedi fool you because very soon the 2.7 billion dollars will be used up and the cedi will start to depreciate again.

Get your economics 101lessons together. The SSSS policy depleted the government resources it has to print more cedis to meed the more than 200% increase in workers wages.

And who said money chasing goods is the only factor of depreciation. Go and read research papers on economics and see several factors. Fundamentally government economic structure is weak and will always cause depreciation if nothing is done to change the structure. People are not paying electricity bills. One cannot enter into some homes to read meters because you'll not be allowed to. There are no water meters in so many homes. How then do you expect them to pay bills? The list is endless.
Personally I don't think NPP can do any better if they are voted into power, come 2016. It lies with all of us Ghanaians.

One day a farmer's donkey known as cedi fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Enough of that crap. The donkey later came back, and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

But John Mahama has so soon forgotten that on 5/10/14 on the tarmac of Kotoka International Airport, on returning from the 69th UN General Assembly meeting whilst addressing their own party footsoldiers in a report posted on myjoyonline, under the heading
"This maybe the last time we are going to the IMF" in paragraph two of that report said, and I quote,

"He said his government would tighten it's fiscal policies in order to ensure that the FINANCIAL INDISCIPLINE that occasioned the ECONOMIC MELTDOWN and created the CONDITIONS that COMPELLED GHANA TO TURN TO THE IMF FOR A BAILOUT is not repeated", end of quote.

Clearly, the Mahama NDC gov't is trying everything it can, via propaganda, to extricate itself from their own self-inflicted catastrophic economic meltdown from their financial indiscipline, a mild and less abrasive term for what it actually is, ie plain looting and crass thievery of the national purse. The Mahama NDC gov't is totally unfit for governance, lacks the vision and the competence to drive the growth of the country, except to loot, and it's imperative they are sent packing at the ballot box in 2016.

Why is John Mahama so enthusiastic about the appreciation of the Cedi which is a mixed blessing?Does he understand how the Forex market works?
Last week,the FOMC(Federal Open Market Committee) had to leave the US bank rate as it is for fear of a strengthening dollar which will make their exports expensive and lead to reduced exports and foreign exchange revenues.I did mention this fact in one of my comments a few months back.A very strong Cedi is inimical to our exports.It will make them expensive and drive our customers to subsidies from our competitors.

They are merely stating a fact, and the idiot that you are would, of course, take it personal and hit back an anti-apocalypse speech, instead of getting off your corrupt, money-grabbing tush and implementing policies that would turn things around. Just in case someone told you that your mother is a man, is there any reason for you to believe that your mother will turn to be a man because someone has said it? This is simply nonsense. If you borrowed money foolishly form all sorts of avenues and begin sharing it among your cronies just as you did to Woyome, Gyeeda, sada, Subah, Isofoton, Waterville etc. you are bound to be indebted and go broke. In doing so, there will be no money for you to boast about. In that case, it takes only a fool to say that dwarfs have come to whisk the money or that someone has said the cedi rate will be 1 : 10 so you will have time to deal with them because they are the doom bearers and that you will deal with them because they have said so. If you understand what I mean, it takes only a fool to say that someone has just said that Ghana will go broke so definitely, the country will go broke because of merely saying so. Meanwhile, you yourself know that you stole all the money by instituting Gyeeda, Sada, Subah, Isofoton, RLG, Waterville and the rest only to steal Ghana's money. So Jon Mahama I say "wo ye aboa paa for making such a stupid analysis. Kwase. Just stop stealing the money and see if dwarfs will come and take the money or because someone has just made that predictions it is bound to happen. While he and Victor Smith chop kyinkyinga and quaff wine at Ghanaian taxpayers' expense and tell the world "Everything is cool in Ghana" workers are on strike, people are sitting in darkness, young women are dying of cholera, children go hungry and wear rags, the filth is piling up in our streets, babies with sharp teeth continue to work at swallowing as many millions as they can while they are near the chopbox, young men are hanging themselves, soldiers and policemen are hiring out their firearms to the most generous or quickest bidder, nurses are working without being paid, teachers are fighting for their allowances, everybody's Tier One pensions have disappeared, people can't get clean water to drink, government committees continue to organise konomtea where they can chop some smaaaall air con, free food and payo for a few hours, cocoa farmers are being robbed blind, our young healthcare system has been virtually destroyed, children learn nothing at school except how to turn up and sign and then go home, and babies are dying before they're even born. And because of all this, we say we are living in a Better Ghana.
