Npp is misleading the public and we must think twice to privatized the Second Tier Pension which cold end up to be npp 419 agencies which could declare bankruptcy or go out of business and heaven knows whom could be held accountable. But the Government would continue to protect principles of the Second Tier Pension, which require funds invested under the tier to be paid in cumulative value and accrued interest and more to the point could be held accountable irrespective of which gov't is in power.

The monies collected from workers have virtually disappeared, and the Thomson guy at SSNIT is not to be trusted. He is a vampire, and his brother is the other Thomson that had been installed at STC as CEO, and was removed this year by workers on matters relating to pension funds and other wrongdoings. Until the "Big" Thomson is removed from SSNIT, the extent of the damage done to workers' pensions in this country will never be known. SSNIT is nearly bankrupt under Mr. Thomson and the monies have been misused and still being misused.

Mr. Kwesi Pratt, could you remember that Rawlings used the TUC and its workers as a launching pad to overthrow Liman's government fraudulently? Could you also remember that he used to take 'Kenkey' to Legon to demonstrate how the size had shrunk under Liman, and we ended up with the "Rawlings Chain" during the PNDC? Could you also remember that Nkrumah used to incite workers to strike against the Whiteman and later on outlawed strikes and said they were unpatriotic in his regime when the economic situation was difficult for workers?
I don't believe NPP is behind the strikes. But if they do, I don't think they are doing that to overthrow any regime unlawfully. They may be highlighting the failings and excesses of the NDC government, hopping that it would translate into votes for the party in the next elections. That is in fact, a genuine politics. Everybody in Ghana knows that cost of living under the NDC government is unbearable, and NPP could be seizing the opportunity to convince Ghanaians including the workers not to vote for NDC next time. Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that because the NPP is trying to wrestle power from an incapable government democratically?

It looks as if every Ghanaian is looking forward to the President or the party in power to settle all the problems of the nation while they sit on the fence doing the wrong thing. Everyone seems to be complaining, but they are not ready to do what they are supposed to be doing to help build this nation together. The recent strike by organized labour is unnecessary and it is also showing that, the leaders of these groups are not good fathers and managers in the face of difficulties and challenges in the country. They asked the labor force to stop going to work, stay at home and at the end of the month, they expect government to pay them salary. No productivity yet they will insist for their salaries. There is something wrong with this mentality and yet the same striking workers will complain there is no development going on in the country. The leaders of organized labour see it not their duty to help government clean up the system with tens of thousands of GHOST NAMES in the payment vouchers. They do not care when government is loosing millions of Ghana Cedis every month, every year, inserted by the same workers agitating for salary increase and better pension scheme. The way leaders are pushing for the pension scheme,I can smell there are thousands of Ghost names inserted in that list. I will urge government to scrutinize and clean the data very well; otherwise we'll be retiring and paying ghosts that will resurrect to become the same people who are on strike today.
