  The Takoradi Poly Students who were sacked for applying with fake certificates must be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction. Just sacking them is not enough.
  
  Nowadays businesses and government organisations have stopped demanding Secondary School Certificate or Basic Education Certificate.
  
  Each of these certificates are important. For example for many tertiary graduates the only certificate that can tell whether one can speak good English or whether one has adequate knowledge of Mathematics is the Secondary School Certificate.
  
  Similarly the only certificate that can tell whether a tertiary graduate has basic knowledge of Ghanaian history, culture, agriculture and the basic geography of West Africa is the Basic Education Certificate.

  I like the way u hv so far handled urself in office. Not responding to NPP-instigated vile media propaganda against u is admirable.
  As for the pettiness of the the teacher unions, the least said the better.

  Every two storey building is being converted into a university in Ghana. As we mass produce functional illiterates what we end up with are a bunch of BA/BS holders who cant spell "degree".
  
  Instead of coming up with more rigorous standards for university applicants in order to produce well educated graduates ready to hit the ground running at the workplace, we open up our universities to unqualified candidates who would otherwise pursue trades such as catering, carpentry or plumbing-no offense. Most of these trades can be operated by independent contractors who would help minimize the the number job-seekers at the ministries and the banks or would be 419 fraudsters.
  
  In America, electricians earn more than psychologists with masters degrees.
  
  Isn't it a glaring fact that we already have a huge number of so-called university graduates who are unemployed and who engage in cyber fraud for a living?
  
  Why do we keep incompetent people in charge? Our Finance guru goes to borrow 3 billion and floods the forex market with dollars and you have Mahama yelling "Hallelujah! we have tamed the dollar".
  
  All we got are a bunch of INCOMPETENT JOKERS in charge.

I THINK RUSSIA HAS THE BEST FORM OF POLYTECHNIC EDUCATION IN THE WORLD BECAUSE THEIR POLYTECHNICS OFFER ONLY TECHNICAL COURSES WHILES THEIR MAIN UNIVERSITIES OFFER THE ARTS COURSES. ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF MIDDLE LEVEL MANPOWER, WE CAN STILL RUN DIPLOMA COURSES IN BOTH THE MAIN UNIVERSITIES AND THE POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITIES TO FILL THAT GAP. OMG........can't you people see technical education is the key......

  Polytechnic University? And what is that? A polytechnic is a polytechnic and a university, a university. Why are the polytechnics bent on getting university statuses. Isn't that move a failure?

  Google Polytechnic University and you will find countless lists in USA, Canada, Switzerland, France, etc. In Germany, they are called Technical Universities, while South Africa has Technikons.

  Did you read my post well, or you are one of this stupid and dumb literates? What is a polyetchnic? The PNDC Law that established the polyetchnics resourced them to train "middle-level manpower" (up to HND). Now Government want to resourced them to train technical graduates (BTech, MTech, DTech) using "competency-based training" (CBT) instead of the subject based offered in the conventional universities. How see how dumb you are. The only thing you know is why converting polyetchnics to university?
  
  And if you are a little wise, you will see that your Ghana is not developed compared to South Africa and Europe that you mentionned! Stop exposing your ignorance!
