The Akyems have always been a small but divisive group. They would align with anyone, anything to get their wishes.
Ghana is changing fast. The Ewes are increasing in size and education, the northerners are also multiplying.

If we do not change and tell these Akyem mafias to get off our backs and learn to settle within the hegemony of a greater good for Ghana, there will come a time when we will be out- numbered and I fear our children will suffer for our past misdeeds.

Our past can be forgiven but we have to change first.

Stop trusting these Akyems. They aligned with the Akwamus, Fantis, Gas and even till now Colonialists just to get their interest.

Imagine, they turned you against your own Son, Alan Kyerematen even when signs were that he could have been the bridge between Ewes and Ashantis at long last.

What can't they do? This is not an alliance of equals but one of opportunism. It is wrong and bad for future Ashantis.

Hey my people, you can do better, don't be deceived. We brought down the might Denkyira with wisdom and great tact. Where has these virtues gone.
We stand together as brothers and sister of a common Ghana against globalization, extremism and pestilences like Ebola.

Nana Sir Ofori Atta I (1881–1943) was the Okyenhene or King of Akyem Abuakwa, one of the largest and wealthiest kingdoms of the then Gold Coast Colony, from his election in 1912 until his death in 1943.

Ofori Atta was educated in Basel Mission schools and at its Akuropon seminary. He worked as a clerk, and then served in the West African Frontier Force, fighting during the Yaa Asantewaa War.[1] Elected Omanhene of Akyem Abuakwa in 1912, he became the first African member of the Legislative Council in 1916 to represent the Gold Coast.[2] "Ofori Atta was the son of a senior official of the palace; his mother was the descendant of one of the founders of the kingdom.... Once in power, he was determined to return Akyem Abuakwa to its former glory. His approach to politics was a mix of educational modernism and aristocratic nepotism that gave as much importance to merit as it did to blood." [3] He created a dynasty by privileging education both amongst his sons and daughters, through two paths, “one firmly rooted in a concern for binding the state by the traditionally sanctioned method of multiple marriage and the other rooted in his strong case for ‘modernisation’ and ‘progress’.”[4]

He was the brother of Dr. J. B. Danquah (a founder of the United Gold Coast Convention), and the father of Aaron Ofori Atta (a Minister of Communications and Minister of Local Government), William Ofori Atta (a Minister of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Candidate of the UNC), Dr Akwasi Amoako-Atta (Governor of Bank of Ghana), Dr Jones Ofori-Atta (Deputy Minister of Finance), and Dr. Susannah Ofori Atta (the first female doctor in West Africa). He was the grandfather of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana's former Foreign Minister and Presidential Candidate of the NPP in 2008 and 2012.

Their difference is located to those who remain fidel to the golden stool and those who left refusing this allegiance. The rest were the wars between brothers for supremacy, and the protection of territories! Could you believe that there are Ashantis who immigrated to Akyem lands but still in allegiance to the golden stool ? Ashantis and Akyems are everlasting brothers with different interests due to their conditions and situations. They are never enemies as you pretend! They have the same language, and bare their children the same names and values. The only difference is one calling himself Ashanti and the other Akyem . Never forget , there are those who refuses this and still identify themselves as Ashantis -Akyems. Sweeping all stupid allegations . Tradition keeps changing from a place to another but these people have still remain the same. Make a journey from Ashanti Kumasi through Bekwai to Akyem land Kyebi to Koforidua and witteness the vast beauty of the Akans tradition. Just have this in mind, that none will ever betray the other in times of your political elutions.

The Akyem Mafias are of the habit of perpetuating divisions based on what they feel is self seeking to themselves. We can not have this in modern Ghana.
They are only using Ashantis today because we 'seem' to be the larger group but time will tell the consequences.
The dangers for Ashanti is that, these Mafia group always know how to break from you in times of trouble and create another alliance even against old friends. watch them carefully.

Nowadays businesses and government organisations have stopped demanding Secondary School Certificate or Basic Education Certificate.

Each of these certificates are important. For example for many tertiary graduates the only certificate that can tell whether one can speak good English or whether one has adequate knowledge of Mathematics is the Secondary School Certificate.

Similarly the only certificate that can tell whether a tertiary graduate has basic knowledge of Ghanaian history, culture, agriculture and the basic geography of West Africa is the Basic Education Certificate.
