4. Widen the tax net, property taxes. All must pay a regional tax on all transactions. The funds will be used to develop the region. Those who owe land must be exempted. Those who own homes must pay property taxes per month to the region.
5. Invest in FOODBANKS,.affordable rental homes for the poor, a welfare program for the poor and free regional education for the youths. The regions need to take an active role in offering better standard of.living for their citizens becos flagstaff house don't give a damn!

Kumasi has lost its lustrous beauty. Some places of what used to be "The garden city" of west Africa looks more like a village than a city. The roads are bad. It seems like there is no city planners and there is no control of traffic and pedestrians.
If we are serious about revamping the quality of life of Kumasi, then we should do better.
Integrity of the leadership is paramount. A serious Commitment of all workers is a requirement and financial resources must be well managed better.
Otumfuo's leadership can be a good source motivation in all of these areas.

Otumfuo, Nana Asantehene, please settle Bompata chieftaincy dispute case. As a result of this inaction on the part of your Asanteman Council, the town has been left without a queen mother for several years now, while the current illegitimate chief who resides in Accra hardly visits the town.

No wonder there is no development whatsoever going on in this town. Without vision, the people really perish, especially the youth of this town. Is this what the Asanteman Council wishes for the same people they are supposed to serve?

It is amazing how we fail to correct injustice in our society as leaders even if our failure to do so is detrimental to the very society we are expected to serve; yet we cry out loud for justice when the matter at hand adversely concerns us.

It is equally amazing to observe that cases brought before the Asanteman Council can drag for over 40 years without any attempt to call for settlement. Such gross inefficiencies definitely call for urgent need to reform the way the Asanteman Council operates.

I think the Asantehene has the power and the influence to reverse the downward spiral of Kumasi. To start with he can order his sub-chiefs to establish new open spaces and parks. The size of Kumasi has increased massively in recent years but the expansion has not been matched with the required infrustratural development. Poor roads, poor layout, no new creation of open green spaces and parks. For example, buildings hae sprung up from Sofoline all the way to Abuakwa and beyond but no provision was made for green spaces and parks. In fact the little we have, have been taken over. The Asantehene has lived in London and surely London is beautiful because of its many green spaces and parks. It is not too late to start establishing new parks but it requires the chiefs not to sell all the land as if there is no tomorrow. May I suggest that the Asantehene takes over and protect the water bodies and ensure that no building is sited say 50 meters either side of the river bodies. The green spaces that were left by the whiteman have not been added to. The Asantehene enjoys his golf and I pray that he would have the courage to establish another golf course somewhere around Akwaboah area and even establish a new forest reserve there for future generation. This will go a long way to bring Kumasi back to its former glory.

2. employ more street cleaners;
3. re-introduce the old "tankase" scheme and employ more sanitation inspectors to enforce the scheme;
4. litterbugs must be given heavy on-the-spot cash fines; persistent 'litterers' should be given jail time.
5. carry these measures through ruthlessly and, I guarantee you, Kumasi will be clean again.
6. THE SAME STRATEGY SHOULD BE ADOPTED FOR ALL OTHER TOWNS & CITIES IN GHANA.
