I agree with Justice Emile Short that the language used by GBA was inappropriate but at the same time, it is true that Afari Gyan's credibility was dented and the image of the Electoral Commission tarnished by what was revealed at the SC Presidential Petition hearing. If Afari Gyan could not define over-voting then why is he the Electoral Commissioner?

The GBA erred to have suggested the appointment of a new EC in advance when the existing one retires in 2015. That is against the constitution and it's sad that those who should be defending the constitution sought to undermine it. I hope they have learnt a lesson from this misguided and uncalled action.

These so called corrupt people are in our churches and mosques. haven't we failed as spiritual leaders. These corrupt people are the ones who are on every committee in church. The church should play its role well. lets preach to the conscience of people and stop this general preaching which does not affect the moral fibre of society. Why are you talking now? Keep dreaming about Jesus. Corruption is the work of humans, and humans have to work to change things by doing what's right and also by learning to be better organized , instead of living in the world of "I want mine today, regardless of the consequences". Abundance of natural natural resources mean nothing to a nation when tfar too many of its people, not just klepto-politicians, are always wanting to live above their means; wanting tio have things today withen those things or goal are attainable but through proper organization and patience; when it's easy for most officials to be bought; or when the leaders of the country keep yapping about being serious in the fight against corruption when in reality, these government officials themselves are part and parcel of the corruption train. When was the last time a President said enough is enough, regarding corruption, and that the President will quickly boot out all officials in his administration known to have acted or conspired with others to engage in corrupt acts? The Woyome case in particular should shame anyone with a conscience in government, but these guys have non conscience to talk about. The recent revellation of a project initially estimated at at a cost of seven million cedis now ballooning to forty-four million cedis is totally unacceptable; worse, there has also been some crooked dealings in terms of the land sold for the construction of the office. Was the Minister not using his brother to sell land to the government? Why were these dealings not publicly announced, and the land deal just happens to be exposed because the thieves were beginning to speak in tongues and thus could not understand what each had been saying? Why should contracts not be made available to all qualified bidders regardless of party affiliation? The government will say differently, but when these contracts are awarded in dark rooms to political cronies, that certainly is nothing to have tied to a democratic process. Why have both the NDC and NPP Ministers and their cronies looted government bangalows, ansd still have the nerves to accuse each other of being corrupt, when both are as tainted with the smell of corruption as the smell of a coon? Most houses springing up in Ghana are not structuredly sound, but the government officials are paid to look the other way. Inexperienced and drunk drivers are killing passengers daily, yet the licensing office continues to renew the licenses of these folks who ought not to be behind wheels but rather behind bars. We're all in one way or another tied to the chain of corruption. We therefore have to look at ourselves when accusing politicians and government officials of being corrupt; for we all need to change our ways.

Corruption comes in many forms and ways and everyone in Ghana has participated in or been touched by corrupt practices and or benefited from corruption.

During Ghana's struggle from the British to gain our independence leaders of the UP/UGCC/"matemeho" gang led by their hero J.B. Danquah and a host of uneducated ignorant Ghanaians like Baafo Akoto and others were willing to let Ghana remain subjugated by the British if power was not handed over to their kind of preferred transitional authority and the British did love it except for Nkrumah's dogged insistence on freedom now. We also have bribery that comes when people from small town Ghana send residents into the city/metro areas in search of government jobs where there is a hometown “boy” with pull and position of power/authority at a government employ. To top this sickness off of late is the fact that NPP supporters, from the clergy through the wannabe journalists to party elite who see no harm in Kufour era stealing and mismanagement (because no one has been caught, prosecuted and sent to prison) but hypocritically seek revenge because the NDC is engaged in similar activities.

Anyone in Ghana with a net worth of US$500,00 plus is likely to be a thief, embezzler or engaged in criminal activities of the highest order. Most of Ghana's rich class got a bulk of their money from or within government either through government contract or crony capitalism and mismanagement. It is called corruption by any other name. The numerous MP's who acquired land and opened up gas stations in Ghana in anticipation of the oil discovery manipulated the system under Kufour to get monies for their venture; the same is true for the NDC thieves who have used NYEP/GYEEDA and other agencies to rip Ghana off. Corruption is a Ghanaian character trait; it’s in our blood and pretending it started in 2012 is the height of ungodly hypocrisy by all who talk about the Mahama administration. The question to all the critics is this: is one corrupt activity better than the next? If your answer is no then show your outrage when your husband’s come home with things you know they could not afford on their salary or lifestyles that cannot be sustained by their salary and while at it ask yourself if you are principled. If the answer is yes then enjoy a culture of moral decadence.

We cannot continue to just talk about corruption. Talk is cheap! We need to actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! We need to see punishment being meted out to those proven to be corrupt and this should be done consistently and seriously without regard to tribal and political affiliations. If the political leadership and judiciary don't do something about this, it will be clear that they just want to invite chaos in our system, and by chaos I mean military coup, civil war and the like! Is that what Mahama wants?
