The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. The BOG must ask for land from the King of Akyem (Okyehene) to construct this building. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data on the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:

Gold mining
Diamond mining
Cocoa
Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
Timber
Software development
etc

The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.

The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.

Dear Sir,

This is with reference to the news article published in your newspaper with headlines "Dry Gujarat a royal challenge".

I represent Park Agrotech Ghana Ltd. His Majesty Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II is on a working tour to India on our invitation.

The interview reported in the article was conducted on 1st of November in the afternoon at Diva Eye Institute in the presence of the doctors of the institute and the undersigned.

We are shocked to read the contents of the article. The reporter who interviewed His Majesty Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has MISQUOTED the facts of the interview.

The interview was organized by the Eye Hospital to showcase Ahmedabad as an emerging destination for affordable health care. Most of the time the discussion was centered around it. Gujarat being a dry state was discussed in the meeting more from point of view of inconvenience to foreign investors and the resultant loss of revenue happening to the exchequer due to the prohibition. His Majesty was appreciative of prohibition in the state when it was brought to his notice about the resultant socio-cultural effects.

The Quotes by the reporter on "...booze", "...role reversal" , "as much mineral water...." "In Ghana..." and "I am His Majesty..." in the said article was never spoken by His Majesty.

We request you to kindly take cognizance of this ill reporting and ask the reporter to tender an official apology to His Majesty immediately.

We are also forwarding you a letter issued by an officer from His Majesty's office.
