The President brought up in Nkrumah's tradition boasted and said that things had changed massively from a state-dominated economy to one that was private-sector led, and that the government was concentrating on important things for the private sector to become the engine of growth of the economy.

After reading the above I cried and said: "YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN!" No matter how long he is oppressed, his ideas will one day emerge and prevail. The visionaries who suggested these ideas 60 years ago in this country were called names, persecuted and ended up in jail dead or alive. The lucky ones barely escaped with their lives to continue fighting for the ideas in exile. Today, and after all that has happened to the Danquah-Busia and Dombo Tradition, don't you think that we deserve an apology from the Nkrumah's communist tradition?

I agree with Justice Emile Short that the language used by GBA was inappropriate but at the same time, it is true that Afari Gyan's credibility was dented and the image of the Electoral Commission tarnished by what was revealed at the SC Presidential Petition hearing. If Afari Gyan could not define over-voting then why is he the Electoral Commissioner?

The GBA erred to have suggested the appointment of a new EC in advance when the existing one retires in 2015. That is against the constitution and it's sad that those who should be defending the constitution sought to undermine it. I hope they have learnt a lesson from this misguided and uncalled action.

After six years in office with high commodity prices including oil, and after recklessly borrowing to the tune of about 60% of the GDP or more, forcing the Cedi to depreciate to about 40% of its value in few months and the government rushing to the IMF for a bail out, the NDC government is now propagating deceitfully that it is looking for ways to reduce Ghana's import bill on rice, sugar, tomatoes, among other items, by encouraging the production of those commodities locally.

Do you think these guys are sincere and realistic when they have only two years to leave office? Food production is a priority that should have been started since 2009, but they said they are still looking for ways to start it next year or so. Verily, these guys can cook figures to deceive Ghanaians but they cannot cook figures to deceive the IMF.

Will they not employ people who will be paid and thus spend on goods and services creating even more jobs (the multiplier effect}? Will the taxes accruing therefrom not enable repayment of the loans?

We all saw the incompetent before the IMF that NDC technicians don't know how a cat moves. NDC have mismanaged every opportunity Ghana had and the country's coffers but to borrow one and pay for ten which is the only last straw of his administration measures. I can tell you that the Efo land,even if that exists, gained their senses of knowing better this time with the government presumed gear excercise to their community. I can again tell you that, the IMANI Ghana, the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) and the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) also know that NDC, as well as Mahama is concerned, are crowing on first gear to managing the economic affairs of the state and he's incompetent.

It is rather those who want to permanent themselves on the seat would bear the pain when by God's Grace elections are held genuinely and they loose. They would cry maa maa. This is the expectation of majority of Ghanaians. On the street and in public places talk to people and you would see the frustration of the people. You are one of those people who don't want to tell the President the situation on the ground. Keep on deceiving the President. Don't also think that you are going away with illgotten money. You are going to account for every dime that goes into your pocket. Anybody who steals the people's money would be in for trouble. Look at how people are dying because of maladministration. Many of them die with pain in their heart and that tells a lot. How can it happen that in a nation where there is wealth 60 children feed on a piece of loaf and at the same time people have in abundance and throw away food because of money they have stolen. Again look at what they call ex-gratia. They should consciously think about it themselves. What at all do they that should give them money to sustain them part of their life if they leave office. Are they being fair to the masses and to society. Many of them if not of the sweet tongues that they have they would not be able to put in anything to enhance the betterment of society. They should know and realize that they did not create themselves and they were not created to be cheats and lord it over the downtroddens. God is going to settle their case for them. My heart bleeds when I read about situation which arises which could have been prevented but due to porverty or failure of society to do what they are expected to do. All due to bad governance. They should realize that thay are all accountable first to God and to the people.

The bottom line of mahama is that he has reduced a MIDDLE INCOME country to a HIPC country requiring IMF intervention. Any else is by the way. He should return the country to where he took over or improve on it

If the government promises to build 200 new schools within four years, and at the end of the second year manages to cut the sod for the commencement of the building of two schools, and then later still proclaims the launching of a project to build 23 new schools, and if the opposition demands to know what is happening to the 200 schools in four years pledge, one would wonder which of the parties would be doing the propaganda this paper is talking about. If the government is seen to be fulfilling their manifesto promises, what is so grand about what other people may say?

If this is any indication of the President's shifting to a higher gear of governance, we expect him to keep on to tour all parts of the Country and personally inspect most of the projects promised and ensure he engages the people to solve their problems.

He must not relent but work harder to resolve our Water, Environmental, Educational and Health problems that are most immediate to people's lives.

Our current problem with Education and Teachers, where students still goes to school under Baobab and Akonkodee Trees, and Teacher's salaries are unpaid for months; with Health, where Doctors and Nurses and Pharmacists are paid little attention and not paid deserving emoluments, and Medicines and beds are lacking; with Water, where our Folks have been forced to abandon living off pure, natural sources of clean drinkable water to rely on near monopolistic produced expensive sachet water, and agriculture has become increasingly unpredictable for lack of moisture; with the Environment where more than half of our Forests have been allowed to be destroyed forcing us to now begin importing Wood for Construction and Furniture, the very first time in our Nation's History, and drying up our Cocoa producing Lands to diminish productivity of the crop.

Besides, the President needs to work harder to ensure uninterruptible flow of fuel and Electrical Energy to all corners of the Country to bolster our productivity across board, but especially in the Industrial sector. Then, our Roads must be fixed to serve us better, reducing vehicular accidents and allowing easy distribution of goods and services.

And lastly, the President must in parallel to all the above, ensure that the huge leaky hole of Corruption in our System that drains all our revenues must be plugged with the joint efforts of the Judiciary and the Law Enforcement. That might demand making structural changes in his Cabinet and Institutional Management personnel, as well as truncating his Administration's urge to borrow, piling up debts on the Nation.

If Mahama does all the above, Ghana would see a sudden surge in prosperity and individual contentment with his Administration. I hate for any Government to lure us with transient occasional public show of intent to accomplish without following up to ascertain the accomplishment is real.

God Bless Ghana!!

In these days of mounting deficits, don't some of these political parties think these free this, free that, etc. are dreams far beyond the economic might of Ghana. Yes, no doubt, these are noble ideas, but at what price to Ghanaians, etc. Those countries in western Europe that tried these social democratic policies are now up to their necks in public debt. There is no doubt the reporter of this story is aligned. It is allowable and his views are permitted. My initial comment about this is that the reporter has missed the point. Which government since the colonial master’s time did not provide physical project but this has not been enough. Agitations have come from the people because there is something missing.
This reporter has a small mind. The fact that the exchange rate is recovering, do you people know the harm caused to the people and businesses during the unbearable regime of the rate. Many of you have so soon forgotten about that or pretending and doing politics. The harm is still being suffered by many of us but I will not give any lecture on this.
The least any government can do for a country is the provision of physical projecs. Have we asked ourselves why we pay tax and government use our name to borrow from internal and external sources? Many of us are educated illiterates who know next to nothing but are carrying themselves around with their shoulders in the midst of a predominantly illiterate society.
It is very important for the NPP to identify very good brains to engage in the debates which will soon be the order of the day as we draw closer to the d-day. One of the things they did not handle well was that they allowed the NDC to get the lion share of the negative propaganda against their candidate and their party. I must admit that I was part of this which worked favourably for the NDC.

Any serious dialogue about combating corruption will be incomplete without subjecting the draining public sector to a microscopic scrutiny.
The NPP has so far not disseminated the core message of the party as cherished by the Danquah/Busia/Dombo tradition by drawing a contrast between themselves and the so-called social democrats.The NPP is about empowering Ghanaians through self-independence of government,instead of dependence on government which is the bedrock of the social democrats.
Left to the so-called social democrats,the government should supply everybody's needs as opposed to fending for one's self.
If we do not use the economic development model of the developed countries,namely substantial privatization with patched and limited social intervention safety nets for the needy,Ghana will never develop.
The source of revenue for the government is taxation.So the more the governmental establishments,the more the need for taxation and vice versa.
Posterity will divest the interest of the government in the shoe and sugar factories in future just as the Rawlingses have bought the Nsawam Cannery.So why waste precious time and resources propping them up in the first place?

I don't think such a greedy bastard have an idea to built an affordable houses for Ghanaians... Even I can boldly phrase that if this is true then it's the work the previous government begun because this corrupt government had nothing to offer Ghanaians,and I challenged mahama if he's not a corrupt he has to come out with iota of truth to Ghanaians.
I urge him to keep his damn mouth shut and prepare for his jail terms.
