Ghana had about 1bln dollars in reserve when Nkrumah took over the reins of government in this country. Could you imagine what the value of one billion dollars was in the early fifties? Again, after 2years of his rule, cocoa prices at the world market rocketed and increased four-fold. But contrary to any sound economic planning, he did not reserve any fraction of the windfall for a rainy day, as the Whiteman had done with only one fourth of the revenue he got from cocoa. So, apart from revenues from gold and other natural resources, what did Nkrumah do with at that huge money from the astronomical cocoa prices and the big reserve he inherited, which took many years to build for our financial stability and sustainable development?

He just went on a spending spree both in Ghana and around the world, throwing his weight about and talking big. So when the cocoa prices fell close to the end of his rule, he was quick to point accusing fingers at the West, blaming them for manipulating cocoa prices to sabotage the economy of Ghana and overthrow his government. Finally, after misusing all the money mainly on useless prestigious projects, failed communist agricultural projects and whimsical mad-rush industrialization projects that did not withstand the test of time, he also burdened the young nation with another billion dollars' debt before he was forced out of the country.

The truth is that, Kwame Nkrumah met a rich, confident country with a stable economy, and left it nearly bankrupt in few years as a result of gross mismanagement.

Pause and reflect on what influence your decision on who you vote for. If your decision is influenced by the APPEARANCE of a candidate and not his/her COMPETENCE, you are a FOOLISH VOTER. If you are someone who is fond of exchanging your VOTE for a GIFT, you are a FOOLISH VOTER. If you don't care about who you vote for, all that matters is that he belongs to the party you like, you are also a FOOLISH VOTER. Finally, if your vote is influence by TRIBAL AFFILIATION, you are a VERY FOOLISH VOTER. Remember, your action affects all of us. THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE.

Why are we tearing ourselves apart as brothers and sisters because of politics? The insults are not the way to approach solving our problems. Perhaps, because we are divided along political lines, that is why we being taken for granted. Let us join forces together to define our numerous problems and propose solutions together. If they don't work we should try again.

Ghana was not fortunate enough to have someone like JJ RAWLINGS to hijack her for 19 years. He sewed all the evil tendencies you see today in Ghana, including HATRED,TRIBALISM and DISRECPECT FOR THE ELDERLY. Insults on RADIO and TV was started by him with expressions like 'ZIMAPLA' 'THEIVES' and 'THEY'. Who are THEY? Are we not one country?. These vices are here with us today and it is dragging our dear nation down. I saw a decent GBC when I was growing up until JJ RAWLINGS came in and introduced insults on TELEVISION and RADIO. Now there are many radio and tv stations that cannot be easily control. He is a BAD EXAMPLE for the youth.

Azorka thank you so much for your observation. in fact, Zabzugu forma DCE Umar Wahab is one of the greedy and lazy ones you are talking about. during the campaign, he refuses to campaign for ndc party parlimetary and secretly campaigned for the npp party parliamentary candidate, which resulted in the victory for npp in the constituency.
