Putting samples of the fabrics for them to choose would have avoided all this.

Those who ordered this chairs and tables should account for it. we should not allow this to go through without any investigation.How can new furniture which have not been used for a month start breaking and some one has the guts to say those sitting on the chairs are fat, come... on! If we are all encouraging Ghanaians to patronise made in Ghana goods and a whole parliament which should know better and give employment to Ghanaians would send business overseas then i am sorry those who made the purchase owe Ghanaians an appology. How on earth could you say the time line given to the local manufacturers they could not deliver so you had to order form China. We have timber from Ghana and beautiful wood speicies which could have been used for this furniture, why China?. I have furniture which was made for the species Shie-dua and for 15yrs the only thing i did to it was polish it. It is still looking good. i dont want to belive that corruption is only at the high places it is every where eating into the fabric of the society. It is at the ministries, hospitals,schools, GFA etc. Probity and accountability should be brought back. there should be an investigation into the procurement of this furniture and all who are found guilty of doing any shady job should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. this should be done in the interest of the country and not on party lines.

The excuse that the time for implementation was short is unacceptable. The parliamentary procurement agents could have planned for this last year after the electoral commission increased the number of constituencies.

Even worse is the news that the offices of MPs' in Job 600 are also to be furnished with furniture procured from China.

All these NDC guys want is kick backs. It's all about CHOP! CHOP!

The Parliamentarians are even lucky to have those chairs. They should send the chairs to some schools which have no furniture but use cement blocks as chairs. Each member who does not the new chair should but their own.

How did our lawmakers have Ghana's parliament house renovated without their knowing and for them to have the gull of a brass ass monkey to feign ignorance? Where is the "government agency" going to get the money to pay China for this renovation? Who appropriated or will appropriate the funds? And the best question is how was this project fast-tracked if not by parliament when we have been told from the Woyome judgment debt saga that contracts between Ghana’s government and foreign owned companies do have to be approved by parliament.

Would the NDC turned NPP hero Martin Amidu go to the Supreme Court of Ghana to find out how a Chinese company got the contract without parliamentary approval? Unless of course someone, anyone in parliament is willing to tell us this came to us free care of China for Ghanaians being taking for a ride on the galamsey front.

The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. The BOG must ask for land from the King of Akyem (Okyehene) to construct this building. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data on the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:

Gold mining
Diamond mining
Cocoa
Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
Timber
Software development
etc

The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.

The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.
