We usually blame Doctors for strikes but we also have to understand their points sometimes. We cannot afford to have Doctors resign or go on a serious strike. If it is true that they are working without conditions of service, then it is not good for them. The sectorr minister should sit with them and draw conditions of service for them too o be happy at work. Doctors also have to be flexible in their demands. We know politicians are chopping the money WAA WAA WAA but Doctors should know they deal with Human lives that cannot be replaced.

If the government can spend more than 200 million on and chars in the parliament, at the time when workers are genuinely in need of a rescue from the untold hardship they brought on Ghanaian workers and the government wouldn't listen, then the doctors have the right to threaten these bunch of parasites with a mass resignation to send the appropriate signal to them.

Even in the developed countries, there is an over supply of doctors and new ones, who are not trained at the Med. Schools in those countries are finding it hard to get jobs. If they think they can resign and go abroad to get jobs, they should think again because there are qualified doctors abroad who can't get jobs and are driving taxis in order to survive.

Outside Politics, Ghanaians from varied professions and trades can not find a simple reason to justify Parliamentarians salaries and benefits, and the rate of growth in the monies landing in their pockets, are astronomical and no limitation whatever. This is the root causes of all the UNREST blow-ups, but partisan politicians love cheap shots, and are more than happy to turn it against its opponents; this is not going to work!
All the NPP politicians as well as its support base had go face reality, it would be used against them come 2016.

At the same time too the government should look elsewhere for alternatives in the event that the talks with the doctors break down so that the alternative arrangement should quickly be put in place to alleviate the suffering of the ordinary Ghanaian,

The question you should be asking these doctors' leaders is: When did they realise that they don't have any condition of service? When the position was advertised, did they read the terms of service before applying? When they were employed did they sign a contract of employment? Before your temperature rises, I would like to mention that my nephew, a medical doctor is the head of 37 Military Hospital. Another cousin is a lecturer at KATH Medical School who also runs his own private clinic and a nursing school. My younger brother runs his private clinic in Accra and another cousin is employed by Korle Bu. Having said that, my point is these threats are politically motivated. How long has the state of Ghana been running its own health service? Over 60 years now. So do these politically-tainted doctors want us to believe that for all these donkey years doctors have been working without any defined terms of working conditions? Please be honest. You may detest the NDC government but the truth is these threats are all political machinations. Read through the lines and make constructive contributions.

Before 1981 coup nurses in Ghana didn't know what their salary was. It was through WDCs that they had a statutory salary. Lets find out what's there and end it.Not all the doctors are NPP or NDC. Let those who do not like the conditions, come here to the USA and take on some CNA jobs for a number of years while trying to get situated and pass their board exams! That may be a very very very good alternative solution for the Doctors.

Also the Government should consider a program with Health institutions in the USA where PA Students, nursing students and medical students who are willing and there are many many, come for clinicals in Ghana to help cover the positions these Doctors do not want!

Dr.Kwame Nkrumah was right building Nsawam Medium Security Prison. Believe it or not what goes around comes around. Political Parties and politicians must remember Ghana will be there whilst parties come and go. Let's be honest and realistic of our country Ghana. Nkrumah's time such Nation wreckers will have been thrown into Nsawam Medium Security Prison . After all these, we tend to blame the Government for Ghana ' s economic woes . Issues of conditions of service is a human resource matter. What proposals have those officers put forward to their employers for a review and what have been the response. I wonder how many doctors even have copies of whatever conditions of service is pertaining now to understand the current protest very well. I believe conditions of service documents indicate the period for reviews so how have the existing document b been treated or managed over the years. Lets see some Human Resource expertise in this matter instead of the CHOO BOIEE approach. Doctors must show people that they learnt other means of resolving issues than strikes because it is not part of their training and oath. God Bless.

This insane order should change. The funds that are being looted through corruption should be blocked to improve the conditions of services for workers. Why should ESB be abolished, but MPs enjoy such benefit every four years of service? Workers deserve better conditions of service and is good that the doctors are initiating this crusade. What is comfortabe for politicians is suitable for other workers as well.

I am darn sure each of these doctors will tell us in a heartbeat they are classroom educated, polished and know their rights under the laws of Ghana. Pardon me but how did each of these doctors get hired? How could these doctors not have known of the conditions of service at the time of their employment? Doctors work for the Ministry of Health but their placement/postings are approved by heads of the clinic/hospital facility they intend to work. Why did those administrators at those facilities not discuss conditions of employment at the time of hire?

I find it rather peculiar that some, if not most, of these doctors have been at their post for some 10+ years but did not raise objections about condition of service under the Kufour”s NPP administration. Would I be correct to call out these doctors as partisans closet NPP cowards? These doctors should remember that they obtained their education care off government subsidies through school and their licenses are only valid because the schools which are accredited by government can be revoked and or nullified. Yes they can travel outside Ghana to seek work but verification of their license can be only as good as the government says it is. Or yes classroom education is not synonymous with wisdom indeed.

Let him come out and give us full facts of their salaries and benefits, then we can judge for ourselves by comparing it with other workers benefits.

I have always thought that when you acquire knowledge, you should be grateful, and then you use that knowledge to help the less privilege ones and yourself, but in Ghana things are different, doctors are untouchable and most of them are greedy and useless.I hope they can talk about accountability and dedication to their patients instead of money, money and money.

look at the teaching profession even..teachers sacrifice a lot but yet still a lot of them are still poor..tell me how many doctors u see that are very poor..if i am wrong somebody should correct me...if all farmers go on strike,market women go on strike,,labourers,,nurses,,and other sectors of organisation go on strike who would live...
nobdy hates any profession and please get things right nobdy is better than smbdy..we all need each other....i respect every profession but dont make it seems doctors are God...They are humans like us n they will also die n cant live forever...they should knw that their work is not all about money but sacrifice and God himself will honour them true hardwork...
