  Why can't we use computerized traffic lights that are powered by solar panels? Or we should turn to GE, Siemens or the Chinese?

  Nana Yaw, the guy is talking about maintenance and responsibility here. This has nothing to do with the mechanism of the lights.

  Dr. Kuffour, Nana Yaw is absolutely right. We quite simply don't have the maintenance to constantly maintain the traffic light which will breakdown from time to time. Are these currently broken lights attached to any electricity to keep them working at all? Ne need to rethink and think more on a responsible modern level to develop Ghana.

  Thank you Rose for making Dr. Kuffuor understand what I was saying. The status qou isn't enough. We need to think outside the box Dr. Kuffuor. Installing photovoltaic traffic light is not as challenging as rocket science.

  properties of guvernment should be insure so that any who distroy it if seen or not it will be taken care of by insurance comon sense is not comon.not only vehicles and houses are meant to be insure.

  We Ghanaians behave as if we are still in the 16th century, why can't we install CCTV on this lights to capture all this reckless drivers, Sarfo Kantanka can be of help in this technology, we don't have import this cameras.

  Did I read the question: "Who protects our Traffic Lights" well? The question is nobody does anything to protect our nation's traffic lights. There's no culture of maintenance so everything that we construct or purchase as a state is left to rot without any care after initial installation or construction.
  
  So long as we continue to have everything "owned by gov't and donated by gov't" there won't be any progress at all! Yet, we always here about the gov't trying to build state-owned factories and businesses which results becoming none-profit making entities---just waste pipes. Simply solution is to employ contractors as I've already mentioned to maintain our traffic lights etc.
  
  Our street light and traffic light systems should be given to trust-worth contractors to manage. But for the NDC, it all becomes political; they'll drive out anyone who has a contract with gov't esp. when the said contract was awarded by the then gov't in power. These are some of the reasons why Ghana cannot make any headway into our quest to become a developed country. It's so absurd!

  Those who matter, to fix the lights must shake themselves out of the MONEY CHOPPING gangs and act now. And the lives of PEDESTRIANS are also greatly endangered so they must be vigilant and use their CELLPHONES when they witness vehicles crash into traffic safety equipments. I recall(years ago) when some artisans stole STEEL,ALUMINIUM and COPPER made pipes and plates from road-signs for their work. All these must be checked
