  Our MPs must simply use their brains! It is not as complicated as Rocket Science to know that Clause 23 is idiotic. How can a self-respecting country that has fought and won its independence from colonial rule pass a law handing over its independence to greedy multinational corporations on a silver platter?
  
  Even the human rights of the citizens of Ghana, the most fundamental of rights are subject to the laws of Ghana! How come the rights of these foreign multinational corporations are being made INDEPENDENT of the laws of Ghana? Who dash frog coat? Who born dog?
  
  Why should our MPs even make such a simple issue a national debate? It simply shows how incompetent or probably, how corrupt some of them are in attempting to sell us out! We have slavery and colonialism in our history. And there have always been a few "greedy bastards" willing to sell their fellow countrymen for gin, morrows, and gun powder!
  
  We no go sit down make them round us up! No way!!!
  
  I congratulate the CPP! This is a big shame to both the NDC and the NPP who appear to be in bed to sell us off to foreign interest! Nana Addo's silence on this important matter relegates him to a third rate opposition leader! This issue is far more important than pink sheets!!!
  
  I also regret support John Mahama! His silence is a betrayal of his oath of office! He has convinced me he is not fit to be elected President of our beloved country! Shame unto our political elites who have kept quiet about such a dangerous development!

  Bagbin's holier than thou attitude last week was all a ploy to hoodwink Ghanaians into believing he is somebody who does the right thing. The reason why Alban Bagbin's name was lobbied for the position of majority leader by some faceless lobbyist was primary because of this GMO bill. They want him to push it through for them and as I foresaw it coming, he's doing exactly as planned. I am saying that progressive forces must be ready to strike hard at the core because this guy is mischievously determined to do the bidding of those who lobbied to put him there.

  I think you are perfectly right! Bagbin had the impudence to claim on the floor of Parliament yesterday that there were some clauses in the bill that the petitioners were not aware of! The most annoying aspect of this is that he would not say what those clauses were!
  
  So far, he has been spending a lot of energy talking jazz, and not one word on why we must set ourselves up to be poisoned by these greedy multinationals and if we should attempt to regulate them in the future, slam some horrible judgement debts because we "promised" in this law that their rights would be independent of the laws of Ghana?
  
  Even for attempting to ask us such a law, the whole idea of the Plant Breeders' rights should be flushed off! They certainly have no respect for us! What type of business is this that want to be above our laws before they operate?
  
  Bagbin himself has admitted that "some MPs take bribes and come to the floor and try to articulate the views of their sponsors"! This is exactly what I suspect is going on!

  The president of the United States was perhaps not fully cognizant of the dangers and was routing for Monsanto, who perhaps had paid towards the political campaign.
  In America there are Angels here, bless their hearts! However there are greedy devils. It's all greed of the wealthy few trying to monopolize even how people grow food! Totally wrong and evil!

  Today Honourable Doe Adjaho has made me very proud to be a Ghanaian by deferring this bill. Now MPs must go further and listen to the wide range of concerns people legitimately have about this bill and also ensure the right thing is done. MPs must learn to listen to their constituents as they are your employers and not some foreign organisation who can flaunt dollar bills before your eyes in order to get you to vote one way or another. Even better if MPs could research the topic independently and with open minds before arriving at a conclusion. I must remind you that the Ghanaian electorate, including our peasant farmers are your bosses and must be listened to. Take a close look at the controversial clause 23 that has caused so much furore, break it down to the average person's understanding, seek legal counsel if you have to and ensure Ghanaian farmers and people are protected at ALL COSTS above any other interest groups. If your vote gives more powers and/or rights to foreign companies than your own citizens you would have failed miserably to discharge your duties in the interests of Ghana. By deferring this bill you have a good chance to correct any anomalies and that must be seen to be done in the interests of Ghanaians. Please do not be deceived into believing that Clause 23 is intended to protect Ghanaian scientists. The minute you pass it in its current form you will see the sharp teeth of the "gigantic sharks" who are lurking behind Ghanaian scientists, international aid groups and philanthropists who would have you believe they are more interested in so-called enhanced food production than profits. There is almost whole-sale rejection of similar bills around the world for very good reasons and Ghanaian politicians must open their eyes to what is happening elsewhere. Russia, India, Japan, Brazil, Uganda, Zambia, China, much of the EU, etc have all rejected similar bills in their countries so why use Ghanaians as guinea pigs? Are we really that cheap as a people? Those countries that have embraced such technologies are riddled with negative adverse effects and the relevant interest groups are fighting their hardest to keep the truth hidden away from ordinary people. Do we want to take that risk? Why not defer this bill until the next parliament or even 5 to 10 years so it gives us ample time to study from other country that have adopted this "sick" technology for long term effects? After all is anyone holding a gun on the heads of MPs to pass this bill? Please let's be prudent and follow true science, not some concocted pseudo-science that is silently killing and maiming people around the world. I trust that our MPs are wise enough to consider the gravity of opposition to this bill before voting one way or another. If someone is coming into Ghana to introduce any technology and is deliberately asking not to be subject to the laws of Ghana whilst conducting their business then questions must be asked. Could you imagine a Ghanaian researcher going to carry out any work in the USA and demanding not to be bound by American laws? Why must the reverse be acceptable?
