Why are you so called IIMANI and Professors always crying doom without providing any alternative?
There can be only one pathway and God through his servant Dr Kwame Nkrumah has laid it out. Many countries have taken it modified it and have applied it in their economies and is working for them. It is very true that “a prophet is without honour except in his own country” Till today we are still struggling to accept the fact that our pathway of development is what Dr. Nkrumah defined.
Are you an extension of Dankwa/ Busia confraternity? Definitely you are because the evil can also quote from the bible. This is true because people of God sometimes comes under the influence of the evil just like Peter who tried to rebuke Jesus not suffer. When you men of God refuse your duty to guide the nation in the eyes of God but rather allow yourselves to be carried by your human feelings to obstruct positive ventures that will bring lasting solution to the masses then I can categorically say you are not serving Gods interest. Stop hiding under the cloak of religion to deceive the masses for you shall go unpunished.
Are you not supposed to use decent language to guide society in ensuring public peace? “You are the salt of the earth but when the salt loses its taste what can be done with it” You are rather leading and encouraging the masses to agitate against Government because of your political preference. Why are you shouting in the middle of a great storm when Jesus Christ is in our mist? Where is your faith? Is that what the Holy Book teaches us? Why have you joined the band that have never in their lives supported our nation building but have continuously resisted our progress economically because of their parochial interest? This group of people have never showed respect to their opponents nor use decent language in their comments.
When we wanted independence they said NO
Republic NO
Atomic Energy NO
Ghana Airways NO
Ghana Telecom NO
Akosombo NO
Thermal Energy NO
Tema Harbour and dry Docks NO
Oil exploration NO
Sugar Factory NO
Constitution NO
Constitutional Reform NO

Atomic Energy – SOLD
Ghana Airways – SOLD
Ghana Telecom SOLD
OIL Rig SOLD

Tema Harbour and dry Docks ABADORNED
Sugar Factory ABADORNED

Avehimeh Rice ABADORNED
They pulled down the then Flag staff house because Nkrumah lived there; only to rebuild the same place with a 419 loan from India. These Dankwa/ Busia’s have sold everything we have and have contributed nothing.
When have they said yes or done something which is good to be emulated or beneficial.
What do they say yes?
Cocaine activities YES
Womanising YES
Insults and Backbiting YES
Shallow Litigation YES
Boycotting YES
Selling state Assets YES
Stealing State assets YES
They behave like ostriches pretending all is fine. How on earth can they end up in a hair dressing salon for a loan? These are the kind of people we have in the country Ghana. Sheer incompetency, majority of them attended school and finished with no school certificates and cannot even remember which school they attended. Everything they know about economics is buying and selling. Creativity has eluded them; they only result to insult when they are at their wits end. And use “PATAPAA” to cover their shameful silly behaviour. Their silly self esteemed and endemic mental slavery, which was handed down to them by their forefathers, is what is still holding this country abay. When thinkers are trying to fix problems, all you can see these sons of anarchist doing is manufacturing how to destroy.

WHICH ONE ARE YOU? ARE YOU A CRIMINAL POLITICIAN LIKE VICKY HAMMAH WITH A TARGET TO BAG OR A FOOLISH FOLLOWER. IF YOU ARE A FOLLOWER, YOU FIT WELL INTO THE PROFILE OF PEOPLE I DISCRIBED HERE AS 'FOOLISH FOLLOWERS' WHEN EMILE SHORT SAID WE SHOULD NAME, SHAME AND JAIL CORRUPT OFFICIALS. READ WHAT I SAID ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU BELOW:
How different is that going to be with political party followers (those I call FOOLISH FOLLOWERS) strongly stepping in to cover these criminals hiding behind political parties? Wisdom has eluded most Ghanaians to the extent that when a criminal in politics is caught red handed in a crime, REFFERENCE IS MADE TO A SIMILAR CRIME THAT HAS GONE UNPUNISHED (when your party was in power, you did even worse) to justify the present one. This is how far we have lost our conscience. How about those who have nothing to do with any political party, what do you tell them to justify your crime. Until something is done about our constitution to give a little more autonomy to law enforcing agencies to operate without fear of reprisal from the executive branch of government, we will not be able to change much. To see a police man being ordered by the AMA Boss on the street to arrest a driver for tooting his horn, really makes a mockery of law enforcement in Ghana. If those in uniform understand the law properly, they can use their discretion in situations like these. Do you think such a policeman can arrest this AMA boss if he finds himself on the wrong side of the law? Who determines that 'the big man' has broken the law and must be arrested at once? With poverty, unemployment and deliberate attempt by politicians to DIVIDE GHANIANS ON TRIBAL LINES, it will only get worse until these are addressed. I rest my case.

POLITICS DOES NOT OFFER PERMANENT JOB. It is therefore NOT A PLACE FOR THE POOR. THIS IS THE HARD TRUTH. Politics is for PEOPLE WHO ARE RICH. They have their BUSINESSES ALREADY, THEY HAVE THEIR HOUSES ALREADY, I mean they are WELL TO DO. When the TERM they are supposed to serve is over, THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM LEAVING, BECAUSE THEY HAVE THEIR PERMANENT MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD ALREADY. Politics is NOT for SOLDIERS, CIVIL SERVANTS, TEACHERS and OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED BY OTHERS. The introduction of THESE GROUP OF PEOPLE into politics is the BEGINNING OF CORRUPTION, TRIBAL DIVISION, HATRED, INSULTS, STEALING and all the other bad things we witness in politics today. WHERE DOES THE POOR MAN GO AFTER HIS TERM OF OFFICE IS OVER? This is where the TROUBLE BIGINGS. HE/SHE has to prepare himself/herself for that. ELECTORAL FRAUD, CORRUPTION, STEALING MONEY THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM, SPEND TIME INSULTING HIS OPPONENT because he is a threat to his livelihood, PAY HIS WAY THROUGH ELECTIONS (that is, giving gifts for votes) and all other bad things that does not help the nation, but serve the interest of that individual.
I now want to react to the whole lot of NONSENSE you have written here. Ask yourself, what purpose does it serve. Are you PROMOTING DIVISION, I MEAN TRIBAL DIVISION? Why are you PROPAGATING 'WE AND THEM POLITICS'? This is one reason why KAYABALE WEARING (car tire sandals) POLITICIANS LIKE YOU must not get close to the corridors of power. YOU HAVE NOWHERE TO GO when your term is over, so you have to steal, be corrupt, create division and enmity among the people of Ghana, all for your selfish interest. GET OUT OF POLITICS, YOU POOR ENTITIES, AND STOP DESTROYING GHANA. ENOUGH OF THE CORRUPTION.

There are insufficient funds for development because its been spent and raided. If the interest on loans paid alone is more than the spending on education and health, then it will remain so for the next 5-10 years at least because the burden is even greater now with the recent interest rate surge, government debt and IMF re-structuring. But if the income from oil and gold is fed back into our system, there may be hope. Right now, I don't see that happening on account of the national coffers being raided for personal gain.

Our total revenue is reported as GHC17.7 billion and we spend GHC15.8 billion to service our debts of GHC65.7 billion. Which good economist would advise the government to go ahead and borrow more! What has the funds already borrowed done to better the economy that justifies the continued borrowing? Any good economist would suggest an alternate route to managing our economy rather than continued borrowing which would very soon swallow all our revenues in servicing debts!
I suggest all the people who are currently in charge of our economy must be sacked - including the Vice-President at a minimum. We need new ideas to manage our economy.

I have been reading some of the comments posted on this article (no surprises here) and I am beginning to understand the attitude of Ghanaians. They are of the view that it is not a big deal for government to be spending a lot more than it makes; servicing debts through more borrowing and spending little on health, education and private business development.
Well, all I can say is for government to keep this up. Couple this with the fact that a large chunk of the loans are privately consumed by corrupt officials and politicians, and we will forever remain a third-world debt-riddled country that requires loans and grants to construct every thing from KVIPs to boreholes.

How do we expect the country to develop when our debt level has reached a whooping GH¢65.7 billion making up 57.3% of our total economic size?
We spend more in servicing LOAN INTEREST than on health care, education and roads combined. Note; this does not take into account the loan repayment itself...
Please Mr. President, kindly let's put political colours aside and bring men with the real know-how to run the economy.
You'll agree with me we need to review our current cost structure as a nation to reduce our overheads to aid mobilize some savings to quickly service some of these debts to reduce the burden on the average tax payer.
Look at it from this perspective... 1. we keep borrowing for non-profit generating ventures hence the loans are unable service themselve hence depend on the tax payer to service them.
2. Our inability to pay causes these lenders to dictate how we should run our economy. They dictate as loan conditions who should carry out whatever projects the loans are meant for (mostly their own companies)hence the monies don't even reach the shores of Ghana before they are disbused. Ensuring the monies stays in their economy's yet the debt comes to our books. Creating jobs for their people and keeping us unemployed to deprive us of tax revenue further pushing us into debt...
3. Inflation is on the ascendancy hence the value of state and privately owned cedi assets are dropping.
4. The cedi has lost significant value against our major trading currencies putting huge pressure on industry and commerse leading to closure of businesses with it's attendant effect on reducing our tax recievables thereby shrinking our income hence going for more loans and the vicious cycle keep repeating...
Please let's call a spade a spade and stop politicing with everything in the country. We're on the brink of an economic meltdown and the earlier we started shifting our focus to solving the real issues bothering the economy the better. There are lots of Ghanaian out there who can help. It take boldness to ask for help. Please be bold and let's save Ghana
