John Mahama must not extend his stupidity to our armed forces. The president is enjoined by the constitution to maintain a credible fighting force to safeguard the territorial integrity of Ghana and which also serves as a credible deterrent to would be adventurers! There are consequences for the abdication of this responsibility. Mahama must remember he will be held to account for his stewardship. Leaving state institutions such as the Ghana army to rust and rot away is not in the interest of any Ghanaian! We can't compromise the professionalism of our army because of John Mahama's stupidity! Long live the Ghana armed forces.

The Ghana army is one of the most professional armed forces on the continent of Africa, if not the entire world. The job is tough but they always deliver. Lets give them the tools and equipment they need to perform their duties and maintain professionalism at all times. Government must pay any allowances due promptly and ensure decent living conditions for them. I'm not one of them and l have no relatives or friends amongst them but l value their contribution to our peace and security, both here at home and on peace keeping missions abroad. Mahama do the right thing.

Government dont go half way and start pumping money to something that have been paid for already.
The forces were given a budget to manage. The forces has failed ghanaians for not been able with what they were given, why didnt they say the amount wasnt enought in the beginning or they dont have people who plan for them.
For the minister to be saying the budget of the forces will go up in the next budget, he is promising them money without seeing or knowing how this money will be manage.

Let's use this opportunity to scrap the National Service Scheme as it stands today so we can make it work for Ghana
How about allowing students seeking professional degrees or certification in building construction and management and those in all fields of engineering to opt out of the standing service after graduation and rather honor their service mandate each summer vacation? The government could randomly post students from those select field where their skills are needed most to help build schools and housing units with help from personnel of the armed forces. This approach wisely uses the construction skills of the forces while students bring their classroom earned skills to apply in the real world. Students get to earn college credits for their daily sustained participation and government reduces overhead cost of school and barracks construction not to mention the potential elimination of a rigged placement system at work with the National Service Scheme.

The President as the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces should personally intervene to solve some of these problems of the soldiers. Information making the rounds
Have it that even soldiers on peacekeeping operations and due back home have not received their allowances. Mr President please come to the aid of the soldiers. You may retain a few more votes from the barracks.
