  The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection seems to be out of suggesting appropriate solutions to some of the social problems bedeviling our national and cultural fabric. A couple of days ago the minister was suggesting providing condoms to students in the senior secondary schools. What example is she trying to set. Now she is eyeing $6 million dollars to stop early marriage, especially for the young girls in the northern sector of Ghana. I am personally sick and disappointed about this minister who seems to lack the requisite knowledge in solving some of the numerous social problems her ministry is mandated to solve. The primary solution to any of these problems should be addressed by multi-ministry approach. The central core of the problems is the responsibility of the ministry of education with support from any identified ministry or agency. We do not need six million dollars to tackle this problem. The only problem I can see is that most these ministers are not knowledgeable about our social and cultural problems so as to provide effective solutions to them. Money is not the sole solution and we do not need any foreign solution to our problems. We need leaders with intellectual acumen to help solve our contemporary problems. Let us use the various institutions we have including the academia to search for suggested solutions instead of always looking for external resources. Let us make our institutions work.

  I hope the government of the Netherlands is putting in place valid measurable outcome measures to evaluate what their investment did. I can tell them without any doubt that the money will be wasted because it is not going to tackle the real cause of the problem. The only markers that will become obvious is that some unproductive government appointees will be richer.

Their offprings if care is not taken will be the next generation criminals because there is no hope for them as far as these Savannah cows are in charge of the nation.

  My Dear Anne, I do no agree with you that the northern Ghana including most of our rural communities lack certain economic amenities that will provide means of livelihood to our rural folks. However, my concern is that our kinsmen in leadership seem to be myopic in finding solutions to seemingly endemic problems in Ghana; such young girls engaged in kayaye.
