Look the government needs revenue, can you suggest any other ways and stop the abuse. Most Ghanaians are outside the tax net so the only way to get some tax from them is to spread the VAT as it "catches" everyone.

Look the government needs revenue, can you suggest any other ways and stop the abuse. Most Ghanaians are outside the tax net so the only way to get some tax from them is to spread the VAT as it "catches" everyone.

With the steep decline of crude oil on the international market, the workings of the automatic price adjustment formula, was to kick in and ensure a commensurate decline or decrease in the cost of petroleum products by a similar margin or at least close to a similar margin. This did not happen, effectively rendering the processes and procedures of the body overseeing the pricing of petroleum products via the automatic price adjustment formula useless, and therefore irrelevant to the pricing of fuel products in the country, since it's dictated from the Presidency, which has always been the case anyway.
After much agitation, it was decreased by a mere 2%, which had a lot of tongues wagging about the sheer impunity and lawless nature of the Mahama NDC gov't, and further cemented the much vaunted Mahama NDC gov't's philosophy of "yenti3 obiaa".
The recent passage of a 17.5% tax by the Mahama NDC parliamentary majority on petroleum products, which has caused a resultant increase in the prices of petroleum products by 3.04%, effectively negates the 2% decrease announced by the Mahama NDC gov't about three weeks ago and actually increases the cost by a further 1.04%, and this is at a time when crude oil prices on the international market continues to fall.
Clearly, this development model of the Mahama NDC gov't, which is "tax to loot, contract to loot" is not a forward-looking development paradigm. It is regressive, it is repressive and can only lead to the abyss, as many Ghanaians are witnessing across the length and breadth of the country.
The Mahama NDC gov't has obviously lost the plot, and governance has most definitely gone awry, and going forward it's imperative that, they are voted out for a competent, visionary and capable team to drive the growth and development of the country.
