Could you also remember that Rawlings used to incite TUC workers to strike against Liman's government in order to over throw it fraudulently? And could you remember that he used to take 'Kenkey' to Legon to demonstrate how the size had shrunk under Liman, and we ended up in the "Rawlings's Chain" but nobody could talk? Could you further remember that Acheampong and Rawlings used the mild IMF conditions under Busia and Liman respectively as justifications for overthrowing their governments deceitfully? Could you still remember that PNDC reintroduced IMF and the World Bank with more stringent conditions after the coup without apologizing to Liman?

I don't know what the leftists are talking about, and I don't believe that NPP is behind the present wave of strikes either. As far as I know, NPP is only highlighting the failings and excesses of the government, hopping to translate them into votes for the party in the next elections. And that is, in fact, genuine and legitimate politics because the failings are true and not false. Everybody in Ghana knows that cost of living under the NDC government is unbearable, and NPP is democratically seizing the opportunity to convince the electorate not to vote for NDC in the next elections.

Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with an opposition highlighting the failings of an incapable government to wrestle power from it democratically. NDC is the cause of the strikes because of higher levels of corruption, over spending, reckless borrowing and economic mismanagement that have brought untold hardship on Ghanaians.

trafficker and to use the VVIP lounge at the Kotoka Int. Airport escorted by
NDC Head of Security to carry 12 and half kilos of cocaine unto the Aircraft only to be arrested at the H/Airport in London?

The same projects have been included in the budget for the last 6 years. Where new items have come in, it's been based on the same theme. ie tax increase. Whilst a budget is supposed to increase revenue and reduce expenditure, this one attempts to do that in the most uninspiring manner. The government should increase taxes by increasing the size of gdp but you can't achieve this by starving industry of investment funds by increasing the cost of energy. The fact remains government is not good managing the funds under its control. Even pension funds are being abused. Employment and income generation projects are not being undertaken. To take more money from the private sector into government custody and mismanaging it is not a route we should be taking. Private enterprise was ignored. False and ineffective schemes like YES have not worked because of corruption. Like casely hayford said, this document lacks vision

Interesting enough, this insignificant know it all does not know that a Budget in its meaning is just a statement of intent, a proposal to forecast or project the future based on past performances and trends. Casely-Hayford should tell us any economic prediction which tend out to be totally accurate, correct or true. Predictions by IMF, World acclaimed Financial/Economic organisations Institutions or establishment never ever got any predictions right anyway. The reasons are e.g change in political climate including the decision makers, population change, trend in consumer and economic demand/supply, factors in production, weather and climate especially, in the agricultural economic sectors, social changes e.g health, education, cultural trend. Casely- Hayford should realise that budgets ar just guide and most of the time you need the right people, the cooperation and education of the people and the right atmosphere to implement a near successful program.
