Ghana is being disgraced too much with these drugs people supported by politicians since the time of Papa Jerry, through Kuffour and now Mahama. What has gone wrong at all? Instead of politicians helping fixing Ghana economy, they chop the money and disgrace the country with their drugs businesses. There is definitely some big men in government or power involved. The lady was indeed a great fool to do that in modern days of scans and cameras. Mahama should let heads roll. Ivestigations should continue and Akrasi Sarpong should be asked to resign and not transferred. The head of every sector involved should be made to resign because they could not prevent this from happening. Shame on us, Ghana.

All what is required is effective and efficient Energy Minister with one deputy who will be responsible for power generation and distribution. How can there be separate ministries for Energy and Power? Is power not part of Energy? Waste of scarce resources.

The President should have sacked the MD of ECG long time ago also for incompetence. Until Mahama takes on incompetent ministers and heads of public institutions, his presidency will fail abysmally.

Akrasi Sarpong must go. Who knows, as a qualified pharmacist and married to an Ewe policewoman, he wasn't somewhat connected to this Nayele Ametefe, remotely through his wife, to aid and abet the cocaine going through Kotoka without being scanned?

Nothing annoys me more than their constant cliche that drug pushers caught abroad on flights originating from Ghana were caught with NACOBS collaboration. One needs to ask when the said collaboration took place, before or after arrest? If you are signalling that you alerted the British authorities of a drug dealer on board a flight before the pusher arrived at their destination, that is completely a different matter than say the British catching somedody and them calling to confirm or affirm the identity of somebody who originated from your end.

Yaw Akrasi Sarpong catchall excuse of "we collaborated with the British authorities may be nothing more than confirming the identity of Ametefe as Ghanaian-Austrian. That will be after the fact and not before Ametefe was apprehended. Akrasi Sarpong must be fired immediately, if he refuses to do the honourable thing by resigning now. To possess a diplomatic passport, you must have powerful connections and you must have the backing of powerful Government people. To be able to carry that amount of “cocoa” through Kotoka, you must settle all those nameless corrupt officials in the various agencies in and outside of Kotoka. We also know that elections in Ghana are next year and nameless, powerful people need money to sponsor elections. So do the maths. We all know that Ghana is a major transit point for “cocoa” going to Europe. We all know that holders of diplomatic passports are waived through airports. We all know that this recidivist’s minders or contacts, must have told her “don’t worry, it will be cool at Heathrow like it was for you at Kotoka”. But Kotoka is not Heathrow. Neither is Heathrow Kotoka, so today, the monkey went to the market but did not return home to come and show off with her goodies. My question is how many souls that have sould themselves to “cocoa farmers” have gone through? and how many more are going to try? Why is the Ghana system so corrupt? Why does the country Ghana not value its good name anymore? May Almighty judge all these powerful, nameless corrupt, diplomats and agencies that make the life of the travelling public so difficult. If Ruby was travelling on an Austrian Passport, why was she not visited first by the Austrian embassy in London, but rather by the Ghana High Commission? Was it not because of the Ghanaian Diplomatic passport she was holding that alarmed the GHC to rush to see her?
Please let us get just one story line to follow, otherwise, in another couple of weeks time we all would have missed the real issues surrounding this drug bust!
All indications are that this Ruby or Nyayele had strong links with the authorities in Ghana. Even the president himself has foolishly jumped into the affray, hoping to use his capacity as the honorable head of state to limit the damage this case is causing his government.
But the die has already been cast. We all know the truth now, and are only waiting for it to be officially confirmed. After that, the departure of the Chairman of the NACOB board of directors would ultimately be followed by the departure of the person who took the rash decision to fire the NACOB board chairman! That is the only appropriate way to get to the end of this sage!
