“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

That knucklehead Ablakwa has always known one thing and one thing only, lying and propaganda. Why wouldn't that stupid boy rather ask the NACOB guys to come out of the shadows and tell in no uncertain and specific terms the kind of collaboration they had with the British authorities that led to the arrest of Nayele Ametefe, instead of trying to bamboozle the British High Commissioner into what not to say or say?

There is nothing vague or shady about what the British High Commissioner to Ghana said. He says there was no specific prior collaboration with the Ghanaian authorities that led to the arrest of Ametefe. All contacts with regards to Ametefe happened after the fact, - after the woman was arrested at Heathrow airport. What is nebulous about that statement, smudge head Okudzeto Ablakwa? Or you just throw words about you hardly understand in order to look educated when in fact you are a miseducated fool with hardly any working experience until Atta Mess awarded you with a post for your propaganda activities? Tweaaa!

Furthermore, where is NACOB head, Akrasi Sarpong, in all the unfolding drama? Why was the so-called statement alluding to the collaborative effort between NACOB and the British authorities signed by his deputy rather than him? Is it a case of he refusing to sign, so as not to compromise himself in the face of strong arm-twisting by the government or he is simply out of the country or indisposed when the whole case broke loose? Observers will want to know because his silence is deafening. I will rather want to hear from him than discredited Okudzeto Ablakwa.

What Ghanaians want to know is how come our security men, scanners and NACOB agents at Kotoka Airport were not able to catch Ametefe? What kind of collaboration allows a drug peddler on board a plane with her goods, only to be caught by the police at the end of the journey? Is NACOB saying they knew the woman was carrying drugs but allowed her to continue on her journey anyway and called the British authorities ahead of time that some drug carrier was coming their way? We want to know if the woman was allowed to continue because NACOB thought they couldn't prosecute her in Ghana because her connections will have torpedoed a successful prosecution in Ghana?

Stupid Okudzeto Ablakwa lying days will soon come to an end. Like our brothers up north in Burkina Faso recently demonstrated, the people will soon crack the whip on these lying fools in the NDC. Enough!

Chief, I agree with you that a new ministry is not required to deal with the energy crisis. Instead, the President should have sacked the minister for Energy who has failed and is incompetent. All what is required is effective and efficient Energy Minister with one deputy who will be responsible for power generation and distribution. How can there be separate ministries for Energy and Power? Is power not part of Energy? Waste of scarce resources.

The President should have sacked the MD of ECG long time ago also for incompetence. Until Mahama takes on incompetent ministers and heads of public institutions, his presidency will fail abysmally.

The British high commissioner, did exactly what any foreign officer of a decent and thoughtful country will do, and that is to correct the lies being spun by our corrupt government officials, that "a Ghana British security collaboration", led to the arrest of the Angel cocaine lady. That was an untruth period.
The duty of foreign service officers worth their salt, indifferent of country of origin in the face of such a delicate untruth, is to correct the statement. This is what the British ambassador did, and to remind Ablakwa, this among many other duties is why the ambassador is paid to represent his country, in the cocaine NDC republic of Ghana! The ambassador would not have been doing his duty to his government if he had not corrected this disingenuous statement on the part of Ghanaian officials.
So, for once, these "greedy NDC ministerial bastards with sharp teeth"--borrowing from his excellency ex-president Flt. Lt (rtd) Jeremiah John Rawlings, should eat their humble pie, and additionally remember not to bit the hands of the very British government we frequently go to beg for aid from.

Why would NACOB with knowledge not arrest the Lady in Ghana if they had knowledge instead of letting her get on the plane to be arrested in the UK. The Commission made it clear that the case is still under investigation for that matter they will not go into details but made it clear for any right minded person to understand that the British Authorities had no prior knowledge of any drugs being on a flight from Accra to London which contradicts what NACOB wanted Ghanaians to believe,how difficult is this,what is ambiguous in this.
My question is,the British High Commission and the Ghana government,who supposed to tell Ghanaians what actually happened and what is happening to get to the bottom of this matter,why they the ministers cannot contact the British High Commision to see if they can give them the details of what happened and they relay that to Ghanaians,when did we Ghanaians start relying on Foreign Missions in the country to brief us on issues affecting our country than our own government,what is the Foreign Minister,the Interior Minister and the Communications Minister doing?
I'm very much dissapointed in my people the way they are handling this issue.

These are not politicians and lack political diplomacy. It is not everything we comment on. Had NACOB not said that they worked in collaboration with Britain to arrest the Tulcum lady, there would have been no comment from the British High Commission. It would just have been treated as a normal criminal offense. After all, is she the first Ghanaian to be arrested with drugs outside the country. The way these people are handling it makes it definitely look like SOME BIG PEOPLE are involved. These people need to know what we call diplomacy. Let her be put to trial, and when she starts to talk, we shall see. Why should two ministers be involved in this? And is it true that Victor Smith also visited her, which is the duty of every ambassador's office? How many drug people have been visited by ambassadors when arrested. Such a visit should have been done by a lower level ambassadorial staff but not the ambassador himself. Let us not disgrace ourselves like that.

It tells you the calibre of people Atta Mills and Mahama appointed as ministers to represent Ghana on the world stage. It is so embarrasing to use the media to communicate with a foreign embassy instead of talking to them directly and diplomatically.

After Mills found Betty Moulds guilty of judgement debt payments the only thing he could do was to move her to the Education dept to continue her looting. Readers would recall that Betty Mounds was the one who awarded SCHOOL building contracts at a triple price of the existing contract sum of some GH 80,000.00. And this happened at a time when they claim inflation was in the single digits. Could you imargin how foolish these criminal liars were. Kuffour built similar structures with 80,000 at a time when inflation was around 14.8% and under Mills it was 240,000 at a rate of 8.8%. And these buffoons turn around to blame the fall of the cedi on some mysterious dwarfs. I don't blame those African countries that have been ripped apart by civil unrest because if you have such buffoons in power who always turn our local elections into a West Africa one
by contracting Togolese Trokosis, Burkinabe and Wangaras from La Cote D'ivoire to vote for them, the " Road To Kigare", is sometimes, a likely option to kick their ass from power.

Omane Boamah is no politician but an opportunist. They are rather disgracing the government more because other foreign media are picking the saga up. Let us ask Omane Boamah and Ablakwa if they know anything about Fast and Furious? What about the relations between Iran Contras, the USA and S. Vietnam. Somebody should educate them that on all such matters, government officials keep quiet when they are caught pants down. Talking too much on the issue, the Brits will not want to be outdone. So, they shall put the woman to trial, lure her with a deal and she shall talk like a Parrot, disgracing Ghana further. When put to trial, she will mention names.

Frank, do not underestimate the willpower of drug traffickers not to expose the drug barons. From what we know about this woman she is a big time drug trafficker with years of experience including going underground after an unsuccessful attempt to arrest her at KIA. She resurfaced with a facelift after plastic surgery. She may not talk because talking could spell doom for her and her family. She will plead guilty and may get a lesser sentence do her time in jail and would be back in life. That is how they operate. Even when caught in countries where death sentence is the price for drug trafficking. The barons could even get her a good Attorney to defend her. These guys are very well organised. I do wholeheartedly agree with you over NACOB touting boastfully of some collaboration with their counterpart at Heathrow which eventually got washed off really fast by the same entity they rushed to announced as their confederates in Nayele Ametefe's cocaine arrest and wondered what they were thinking for making up such a lie in our modern digital age. Yes, they were instrumental in some of the recent major bust in both the U.K. and US involving some Ghanaians, people or persons using Kotoka as a cocaine transit hub and were accolade by their counterparts in those cases, but not this particular Coke-Ametefe's case.
Now, either they relaxed their vigilance or they were all in on the game that said day. In fact, the more I dig the more the lady appears extremely popular in both Austria and Ghana alike and that scares my socks off. This bird sitting locked-up in the U.K. awaited trial is not an ordinary bird but a pro and certainly having a lot of associates, making this particular bust a high profile arrest indeed. NACOB is in some serious shit here and the president knows as matters start to unravel hence his uneasiness about NACOB gospel truthfulness in this saga.

A few days ago, I heard on the news, a statement purported to have come from the British High Commission on this drug issue. My first reaction was to dismiss the veracity of it and to assume that it wasnt true.

Subsequent revelations on the particular issue have not only proved me wrong but have also left me seething with anger with the British High Commissioner in Ghana.

I was also left with the sad impression that it was not only Ghanaian state officials who are inept, obtuse and wholly incompetent on the job. At least, the debilitating and life-threatening poverty in this country gives us an excuse to be corrupt and inefficient. What has the British High Commissioner got as a defense to unprofessionally and against the grain of fine diplomatic practice and standards, intervene in a local matter, as sensitive as it is for both countries, which has not even been fully unraveled? The man should be ashamed of himself. If the diplomatic stabdards of a country like Britain which has been touted as one of the best in the world can fall so low, then we might as well all forget about sending 'Diplomats' to each others countries.

Even if the British High Commissioner absolutely had to intervene to make a point, couldnt he have delegated a junior officer of his mission to come out, albeit in a more refined and unobtrusive manner to make a point in this raging issue? Why the senseless rush to put his country in bad light?

If the High Commissioner is indeed really interested in the moral, health and legal aspects of the drug trade - and not the arising political aspects of it, he and his govt should do more to stem the almost compelling and alluring demands of the 'stuff' from his country-men to Ghanaians.

The High Commissions intervention was totally uncalled for and only evoked the irritating and typical threat of imperialist designs on a 'former' colony.

As far as I am concerned, whether the NACOB of Ghana and British intelligence had any collaboration of any kind, is a moot point. Any intelligent or discerning person very well knows that intelligence agencies all around the world have their modus operandi in the way they operate which many times are not known even to the most senior heads of their govts.

I am sorry but the British High Commissioner has badly let his country down and cast a slur on his countrys diplomatic service in a way one would expect of shady characters such as Victor Smith, the Ghana Ambassador to the UK.

Welcome from Mars. It may just be possible that it is the only remaining place in the universe that the drugs trade has not reached - at least not yet.

On a more serious note, do you not know how Western Europe and the US govt and their intelligence agencies have encouraged or at best ignored the cultivation of vast drug plantations and and used the drugs trade as a political bartering chip in places like Mexico, Panama and the entire South American sub-continent to impose and maintain unpopular dictators as against socialist revolutionaries?

And get it straight, anything that has immense value or demand in the world, immediately becomes a point of political contention - whether it is nuclear weapons that can blow the whole world apart several times over or the drugs business.

An NDC drug baron was nabbed carrying a cache of cocaine so huge and horrendous that, it defied imagination and credulity that an individual could be that bold to have carted such a huge tonnage of cocaine, not hidden anywhere in a secret compartment, but rather in plain sight, full to the brim in her hand luggage, weighing a staggering 13kgs of cocaine.
The NDC drug baron was very much well nabbed and very rightly and justly so, by the alert UK authorities who would broker no nonsense whether you show a diplomatic passport, EU passport or an ordinary passport.
Now, because of the increasing drug trade in the West African sub-region and the increasing use of Ghana as a hub and transit point, the previous NPP gov't decided to collaborate with the UK authorities beginning in 2006, to address this menace and canker of the drug trade.
We are told that immediately after the change of gov't, this NDC drug baron's drug trade went into high gear beginning in 2009, carting tonnes upon tonnes of cocaine.
Indeed, this NDC drug baron's global trade in the narcotic drug was so widespread that, she was all over Europe, the Americas and Asia. Such was the vastness of this NDC drug barons global drug trade.
So this NDC drug baron is caught, and then NACOB comes out to say that it collaborated with the UK authorities in effecting the eventual arrest of the NDC drug baron, based on the collaborative efforts signed in 2006.
The UK High Commission debunked and discredited the information put out there by NACOB to the effect that, there was no collaboration between the UK authorities and NACOB.
Now, in the weak brain of Ablakwa, what makes the statement put out there by the UK commission nebulous and ambiguous? NACOB put out an information which was an obvious fallacy, a figment of NACOB's imagination, a significant departure from the facts, indeed an unpardonable lie judging from the mandate of NACOB in addressing the canker of NDC global drug trade.
One begins to wonder and ask, was dimwit Ablakwa expecting the UK High Commission to say that indeed, there was collaboration between NACOB and the UK authorities when indeed, there was no such collaboration in the nabbing of the NDC drug baron with ties to the Mahama gov't and family?
Surely, the NDC gov't and Ablakwa would not want the UK high Commission and by extension, the UK gov't to engage in the Baba Jamal's "sheep is cow, goat is bull" kind of discredited type of governance, or is that what the NDC gov't and Ablakwa wants the UK High Commission and UK gov't and the Monarchy of the UK to be engaging in?
If the Mahama NDC gov't is very serious about governance, and wants to be taken seriously in the country, and in the World, John Mahama should immediately fire Edward Omane Boamah and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Even your boss Mahama has given the credit to the statement issued by the high commission as a results of dissolving the board. Are you more sensible than the president? your statement is in conflict with the president's decision to dissolve the board.
I wonder if this guy always think before he opens his mouth. He has decided to attack everyone, and now he is attacking a foreign mission who has only issued a report to clarify lies issued by a government agency.

What is the reason for Victor Smith who is Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK visit Nayele Ametefe in her cooler in London; is Mr. Smith now party of British Security? 3. Why did NDC gov't sent BNI to arrest and interrogate the Chief Executive of Citi-FM Radio Station? 4. Why is gov't trying to intimidate Media Houses in Ghana from giving proper coverage of this latest cocaine bust in London?

The NDC is cleverly telling stories about the lady. Hope she gets to hear this story so she can also tell her side of the whole case as it unfold.

If indeed this lady, Nayele Ametefeh, had been on NACOB's radar for 5yrs as the former boss describes, then how couldn't they arrest her this time, rather than allow her to pass through Kotoka International Airport, then attempt to lie to Ghanaians that there was a collaboration between NACOB and London's Heathrow Security, when the news broke out? Ghanaians have been told that she went through VVIP lounge; not even the VIP or the Common lounge. What the hell do these liars want to tell us? And pathetic liar like Okudzeto Ablakwa won't keep his lies to himself; he wants people to believe his pervasive utterances here.

These kind of lies exposes government's intent; there's someone in high places connected to this horrible cocaine bust. Meanwhile we have heard for the first time in our political history, the Ghana's High Commissioner in London, Victor Smith making frantic efforts to control affairs by visiting Nayele in his bid to probably keep her mute; they don't want her to mention names. When Amoateng was busted in he U.S. the Ghana High Commissioner didn't involve himself in the case. So what is the NDC trying to tell the world? Allow the lady to speak the truth; remove the "diplomatic pad-lock" from her lips---but that could be damning to the NDC gov't, I guess. Hmmmm!

All concerned should endeavour to tell the truth because this case isn't going to die just like that. There is a lot of interest attached to it. People should be wise and stop saying things from their stomach. We aren't fools; children can even read between the lines in this matter.
