“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

Any Tunisian or Burkinabee-syle revolution in this country will have to start from the parliament as it happened in Burkina Faso. Our parliamentarians are so hopeless that the Executive can easily manipulate them to deplete our coffers or even become dictator. If someone hadn't blown the whistle about the GNPC's $700mln dubious loan, the booty could have been shared and squandered without our notice. And our Parliament should have been at the forefront calling for the CEO to resign.

Obviously, Ghanaians are still not hearing the whole story, and we may never know exactly what the money was going to be used for. We believe that GNPC would have hurriedly approached the parliament for approval, if the massaged justification given by the CEO was really true and the company had nothing to hide.

This whole thing smells like a stinking rot, and the so-called representatives of the people, hired and over paid to examine and authorize expenditure, must live up to expectation and do their work properly. They have a duty to make sure that the dubious loan is either cancelled or used for the intended purpose, and not allow it to go down the drain into the pockets of stomach politicians and their cronies as usual.

If we want things to work better for us, there must be a call for an adjustment to what SALARY PARLIAMENTARIANS TAKE HOME. Left in their hands, they would want to take 'the whole world' home, and things will never get better for the people of Ghana. There are just too many selfish and insensitive people representing us in parliament. THEY DON'T DESERVE WHAT THEY GET.
I am looking forward to the day when voters will use their head in selecting good people to represent them in parliament, not just 'anybody taking cover under a popular party'. Many 'rubbish' have landed in parliament because of bad choice by voters. The legislature which should have been as powerful as the executive arm of government is therefore very useless. Many frankly are not materials for parliament. A rubber stamp parliament is as useless as anything you can think of. When you have people who don't have a mind of their own, there is nothing called conscience in their head that prompt them about their action. The masses will suffer until they learn to put right thinking representatives in parliament. A zombie parliamentarian only serves the interest of his group, not the nation, and that is the choice Ghanaians have made. IF THEIR TAKE HOME PAY IS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CIVIL SERVANT'S, Ghana will get better quickly. Today, somebody is manufacturing cars in Ghana, yet parliament see nothing wrong in importing common furniture from China and completely closing their eyes to what this good citizen is doing. If you encourage the importation of common furniture (producers seen everywhere in Ghana) would you order made in Ghana cars? We need SMART, HONEST AND SELFLESS PEOPLE in parliament

If NPP leaders are that smart they will be talking about how to stop this disgrace these greedy people bringing to the country but as usual they chose to play politics with it knowing very well the individual was not a member of NDC and was not assisted by NDC officials.

Shame on them,let them play the stupid cocaine politics to see which party would be highly affected in Ghana,this cocaine disgrace to the country is not only to NDC but to the entire country which we all need to eradicate once and for all.

The NDC government also needs to fire all NACOB officials and those Foreign Affairs employees at the airport and also close down that useless VVIP Lounge or reform the entire structure making it illegal for any individual who is not a top government official or former presidents from using that facility.

They have been coming to the US all the time,have they ever seen anything like that called VVIP Lounge for people to be staffed with top government officials being paid by tax payers who can open the doors for any individual they like to go on board any airplane?

The Mahama NDC gov't has never had the political will to fight their global drug trade, and their rubber stamp parliamentary majority, has never seen, the issue of their global drug trade for what it is, a reckless, outrageous, untenable, despcable and deviant business with far-reaching socio-politico-economic ramifications for the country, and that is why they had a Head of Security at KIA; Samuel Adela-quaye, a very close confidant and friend of the then National Security Coordinator Gbevlo-Lartey, who was busted by the US authorities carting shiploads upon shiploads, consignments upon consignments of all manner of psychotropic, narcotic and psychedelic substances across every nook and cranny of the global world. Which gov't worth it's sort and keen on fighting the canker of narcotic drug trade , would have a mega global drug baron as the head of security at the major gateway to, and outside of the country?
The NDC gov't's involvement in the global cocaine saga cannot be wished away, and it needs to be talked about, their majority in parliament need to table the right and appropriate bills, to arrest their cancerous and ruinous global drug trade, because, they have the majority to do it, and they cannot tell Ghanaians that, the symbolism of the "bag of cocaine" brought to parliament is lost on them.
NDC parliamentary majority, stand up and be counted. Bring the bills and pass them to address your ruinous global drug trade that is hurting the country. You are denting the image of Ghana ooo touummmmm.
