As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus. Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. Again, she tried to make the step only to discover she still couldn't. So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step, and, once again, much to her dismay, she could not raise her leg. With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind a third time to unzip a little more and again was unable to make the step. About this time, a large Texan who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus. She went ballistic and turned to the would be Samaritan and yelled, "How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!" The Texan smiled and drawled, "Well, ma'am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured we was friends!"

When the friendship originated because of the person was a victim and you wanted to help her, you don't consider her beauty and therefore might even reject her advances after you had helped her. However, when that friendship originated because you saw her as a beautiful in your church, neighborhood or school, no matter how discipline you are, after years of friendship, when both of you are found in a "strange' situation, you may have a 'quickie' and promised not to do that again. But it would happen again anyway..

Based on these example, the question is vague or stupid because the friendship needs to be specific.

Maame- may I ask whether or not you have been extremely careful with one of your male friends? You may take the 5th.

The same is nearly true for man/woman relationships but at a lesser percentage. here I speak as a man. There can be true friendship between a man and a woman even they both have their individual spouses. If such relationship developed from the boy/girl platform, it becomes even more spectacular. It helps both marriages to see other sides of male/female relationships.

Try it and it works nicely from the onset but develops into multiple disasters i.e. split marriages, obstruction on end, double standards , gossip from observers and ill advice due to vested but unseen interests- too complicated baggage to take on besides children and daily concerns- JUST CUT IT OUT. Men, who over-indulge in female friendships, either often get into unnecessary troubles or cause unwanted problem.
Having said this, there must be express desire to be clear, open and unattached to the WHOLE WORLD. Unfortunately, the nature of women in general is they are intelligent, mostly covet in essence and economical in what information they like to share with the world. If adult males of the opposite sex should be friends, to what extent and what boundaries will they agree to observe? My own guess is about 90% of married men and women who indulge in this mode of friendship will suffer divorce in one way or the other. If I genuinely have a female friend and go on to marry, I will prefer my female friend to bond with my wife for the sake of clarity. Unfortunately, you will realise that many a time but not in all cases, female friends will never want to get on with your wife. There is always the odd knot to untie with women and most often, it’s only a matter of time they become unreasonable unless you have to SURRENDER.
I really like my female friends and will genuinely like to be off note but it’s so tricky. So genuinely let your wife to take over the friendship and vice versa. NOT SAFE to take this into marriage, have children and still maintain such divisionism. I do not think there is anything modern about this unclear sort of relationships as divorce in the western world is rampant for this very reason. AVOID IT IF YOU CAN and I know that the fair, wise and serious woman will get out of these KNOTS
