Inasmuch as I agree with you that there several benefits to be derived from such ads/marketing, I believe that it is wrong for the telcos to do so without their clients' consent. In a number of cases, I've requested to be spared these nuisance calls/SMS by following their own prescribed procedures (SEND STOP, etc) to no avail.

I think the bottom-line is just that our privacy is not respected. Period!

The greed-driven telcos don't give a flying duck about your privacy, and if you imagine the National Communications Authority will do anything about it, then you are inhabiting Cloud Cuckoo Land. Want peace and quiet? Switch the damn thing off.

Last year I spent like almost every other day at Vodafon trying to get them to remove that nuisance. Well they finally told me after several futile attempts that they have no control over it. Indeed you cannot blame or get agitated at the customer service personnel at those offices. They are just pawns and clueless...but you know what, in just the same way we all patronize that "street hawking" threat, we will forever patronize all these providers, despite our immense frustrations. We have the power to stop it, but we are all creatures of bad habits. You know when I was a teen growing up in Accra just many years ago, we never had cellphones, although we had a land line unlike so many others, we never even needed that to get around, and like hell nobody had so much fun like we did back in the days. We found out about everything we needed to know and more even without Facebook or what's up. Well perhaps if we could all simultaneously boycott all these services providers for just 10 straight days...I hear no evil, I speak no evil...but I know you all deserve what you get!!!

This has been a Big and Annoying Problem. It is No Different from the Nuisance we suffer in the Streets with these STREET SELLERS. In fact, I am so Disappointed with Airtell, a Major International Carrier and otherwise respected in most Countries, SUBSCRIBING to this STREETISM BUSINESS Model.

And What is NCA doing about it? You Think anybody in Ghana cares? If the TELCOS knew or expected somebody to care they wouldn't be doing it BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL.

these telcos are just crazy. I had a cut because of these useless calls. sending to court is the best. as for NCA they are just interested in their salaries and allowance.
