If Ms Ametefeh has been allegedly doing such manoeuvres since 2009 goodness knows how many of such people have used this method just because of their status in society as security around such people have been relaxed. No one can be trusted when it comes to such issues any more as our security is at stake. We should not even allow the VVIP section security to be relaxed so that unscrupulous people take advantage of such freedom afforded to them in the wake of this saga".

When the VIP lounge is used as a cover for exporting drugs, the government should have been decent enough to accept responsibility, begin investigations promptly to arrest the culprits, and be seen to be putting the right rules in place to prevent it from happening again without being told. Logically, there is no fire without smoke and one plus one is two. Definitely, that Alhaji must have links with some people in authority, and the onus lies with the government to prove beyond doubt that it has nothing to do with the illicit drug business. Moreover, the Board Chairman said the VIP Lounge was a known market place.

If the VVIP staff processed Ms Ametefeh and two other women then, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should have at least the names of the two other women. Have they passed on those details to the British authorities?

There are more questions than answers on this case. We are watching with interest.

For an ordinary citizen to transport cocaine through VIP into a plane, that poses a security issue . What if it was not cocaine but a terrorist who paid this Alhaji Daud to get a bomb into the plane? This is a serious security question that needs to be addressed and assure the international community that Kotoka International Airport is a safe place to travel from.

It does not matter whether somebody used a so called VVIP or or whichever part of the airport they are all security breach.
I even went further to blame the BA officials some how because the crew should have called for a security breach the moment an item was delivered to a passenger on board an aircraft which would have been mandatory evacuation of all the passengers for rescreening in a place like the US but they allowed it to stay up until they reached London which would have been a disaster if it was a bomb,I wonder what kind of training they also have,if that had happened in any US airport everybody who worked on that particular flight has a question to answer.

This guy is just an empty noise maker so called security expert,he just saying what many of us have already said.

The security at that airport is so weak that it is not only about this drug and if you listen to Kweku Baako couple with my own experience whenever I pass through that airport security is useless there.
Kweku Baako said they all use that so called VVIP,according to him it is just a matter of somebody knowing you as somebody important in the country,they will tell you Mr Baako use this place then you go or just know anybody there you will not use the regular check point.

Finally,the last time I told you the name Nayele Ametefe was not Ewe but fake name you did not believe it but now we all know the girl is from Pease near Kuntenase in the Ashanti Region.
I was even thinking she may have been a Nigerian but because we all always think about politics or tribes before crime some of you insisted she was Ewe which should not have been the case in the first place since crime has no political or tribal colors.

Sorry, they are not he same. Amoateng cocaine was shipped through cargo hidden in wood carvens.

For this lady to have somebody bring cocaine to her through VVIP or VIP without being stopped by security agencies and the British Airways flight crew is really scary. Do you realize the terrorists around the world are taking notes how porous our airport is and how easy to bribe officials to bring contraband to airplanes?

It was not about her being Ewe that was in contention but you said the name Nayeli is not an Ewe name which I explained to you that Nayeli is not a surname but a first name like Janet but if her name is really Ametefe, then she is an Ewe which you said is not an Ewe name when everybody knows is an Ewe name, get your facts right.

I wrote several times that the BA staff on board should have reported the person who brought the item on board,waiting up until they reached London before reporting the lady only because she opened the bag to transfer a package of the drug to her purse or bag was too dangerous and a security breach.
Many of us agree that terrorists knowing how weak the security at that airport is can easily transport bombs on any airplane at that airport.

These Lebanese and Indian arrested could have been terrorist if they plan to be one to put bombs on the aircraft since they know it is just a matter of a phone call to an official at that airport to breach security.
I'm even wondering if the authorities in Ghana are worried or take this issue seriously as something more than drugs and my question is also since these drugs are not produced in Ghana but being exported from Ghana if they are concerned about that to find out how these drugs are coming to the country in the first place.

I also wrote in my comment the spelling"Ametefe" is not how Ewes normally write that name and gave examples as Ametepe and Ametewee.
Don't get me wrong,any Ewe can write the name any how he wants,they all have the same meaning.
That lady is a smart lady I strongly believe is connected to a lot of top officials or top men in Ghana irrespective of political affiliation,anybody following this story will know that,look at her beauty alone which she can easily use to win our corrupt men in the country.

As I wrote the last time it is not where she comes from but what she did that we should be worried about.

If The Guide's article from Pease is true, then the lady has been in this business for a very long time. Why didn't Ghanaian security take more interest in the lady? I have been sent a photo (WhatsAp)of the lady with President Mahama. There is another photo of her standing by one of President Mahama's Tigo campaign cars. Is that why she has been able to get away with so much?

Apparently the British security authorities have got possession of three mobile phones and four SIM cards that were in her possession at the time of her arrest. If that is so, then anyone who has/had any association with this lady no matter how remote, is in for it!

How come only the Daily Guide has visited that house but not security agents taking charge of all her homes making sure she does not have more drugs in those homes,why they cannot freeze those houses and other assets up until such time that they may be confiscated,what about others who have been arrested in other drug charges with some serving sentences but come back to take back their properties?

I was reading something at Peacefm and you can see that many have been arrested in recent time but their properties such as hotels are still operating in their names.
I know the government can at least freeze their assets easily but why they are not doing that,if the law is not strong enough to confiscate those assets easily why not change the law to make it easy to confiscate all their properties irrespective of when they acquire them,how will you know if this or that was acquired with drug money?
Long way to go.
I hope the British Authorities release all the phone numbers and all those people she spoke with before departure.

As Aning said, terrorists with buckets loads of money can very easily smuggle bombs through the KIA without batting an eye....I don't know what the administration can do at this point....the materialistic ghanaian populace is so corrupted that if Amoateng and Ruby are incarcerated for the rest of their lives, others will gleefully step in their boots....it is a mental thing...everyone in Ghana is obsessed with building a McMansion and driving the latest car, so go figure.....

Three women of dubious background are ushered unofficially through the VIP lounge of an international airport. They then board their plane. An UNIDENTIFIED person, a non-passenger, carries a 12.5kg bag of UNIDENTIFIABLE CONTENT and delivers this item on board the plane to one of these three women. All's well and the plane takes off! Can you just imagine how differently this story could have read?

We are treating this matter too lightly and in our naivety, we are failing to appreciate all the other negative ramifications that this can bring to bare on our economic and political well-being. We should all be up in arms and be feeling rather cheated by the selfish enterprise of a greedy few. Yes, old boy, we have to start giving some serious thought to some of the measures you propose before a flight starting its journey from Kotoka International Airport is blown out of the skies. Sorry for the picture I paint but that is the reality of the task before the Ghanaian authorities. This is what should concentrate the minds of the stomach politicians and their host of hooligans. I rest my case. They can start charging.

I feel ashamed really. And I have on a few times abetted these corrupt officials too so I'm no saint. But our systems just don't work and the only way to get something done for you, something you're already paying a fee for, is to grease the squeaky wheels of bureaucracy. If only our systems worked... Hmmmmm

No one can climb unto the plane without a boarding pass. Was it not also a bridge of the BA flight procedures or there were some collaborators there as well? What clearance did that person have to be able to climb into the aircraft without a ticket? The BA staff on thatfateful day need to be questioned. The British High Commissioner has stated that they did not have prior knowledge about Ruby. So the question how did luggage get past the BA staff unto the craft?

Joe,if the person who took the bag there is a staff at the airport he or she can go on board to deliver the bag to the passenger,the agents working on the flight can go on board the airplane to talk to a passenger which the crew cannot stop.
You need to know that the crew are not fully incharge of the airplane up until the ground crew releases the plane to them so they can't stop those working on the airplane from going on board.
It all depend on the type of training they get at that airport,giving a bag to a passenger which has not cleared security is something you cannot do at any airport no matter who you are but it is possible in Ghana.
But as being reported if the person who delivered the bag was not working on the flight the crew should have reported that incidence to the authorities.

I've been reminiscing on the relative ease and calm that characterized the smuggling of such a huge amount of cocaine to a passenger on board a BA plane scheduled to fly from Accra to London and the security implications of such an under-hand criminal act pulled off with such contemptuous boldness and swiftness. What if it was a bomb? The plane will certainly have been prevented from making its scheduled landing at London Heathrow Airport and all passengers and the plane's crew would have perished in the crash. Instead of thinking about the security implications and how to prevent a future re-occurence,the two main political parties are busy playing political football and trying hard to score cheap political points against each other. Though Nayele was busted in London this is a national disaster and international disgrace and I hope both the NDC and NPP pugilists would take off their gloves and put the blame where it rightly belongs, punish all those involved regardless of their political power or connections, make changes that will prevent future occurences and restore public confidence in our ability to protect our airports and seaports, protect life and property and restore our damaged international reputation. The self seeking politicians have their priorities wrong. They are thinking about power and self preservation instead of looking at the larger picture.
