The mere fact that Bagabaga College of Education was established in 1944, and was one of the oldest educational institutions in northern Ghana, disproves the myth being peddled around that Nkrumah introduced Education into the North. In fact, Western Education had been introduced into the North long before Kwame Nkrumah became prime-minister of the Gold Coast.
Northern leaders like S.D Dombo, Jato Keleo, B.K Adama, Tolon Naa, Bawumia and many others might have even completed their education and started their careers, long before Nkrumah was brought to the Cold Coast from the UK to serve as a General Secretary of the group that was fighting for our independence.
It was, therefore, disappointing to see Mr. Mahama plying dirty politics by honouring Nkrumah where he shouldn't have been honoured at all because; Kwame Nkrumah didn't have anything to do with the establishment of BAC. By his action, Mr. Mahama is deliberately perpetuating the myth that Nkrumah civilized Northers by introducing Education to them.
Even the much talked about free education that Mr. Mahama himself enjoyed was initiated and put forward for adoption by S.D Dombo, as a bargain or political horse trading to accept Nkrumah's unitary state proposal, and not any humanitarian initiative by him to enlighten Northern Ghanaians.

Ghanaians need to change their working habits. Teachers will not stay where they are posted to teach. They will rather stay in the big cities and town and ride their "chenchema" bikes to and from the stations.
Fridays, most schools are totally empty without teachers. My Muslim brothers and sisters leave for the Mosque and never come back till Monday. I taught under a head-teacher who never came to school on Fridays. There are still teachers like that today in Ghana. Yet, they wonder why the children are not bright. Teachers are not teaching and the civil servants are not in the office to work. These same people sit under the mangoe tree and talk about corrupt politicians. This is corruption at its best people. When you are paid to teach or work and you don't spend quality time on your duty-your fucking ass is more corrupt than the politicians.
The other group who don't go to the Mosques are found in the pito and beer bars drinking their asses off. Their drinking habits is punctuated in synonymous with liver problems. Their next step is the grave.
Ghanaian workers have to change for the better.
If I were the director of Ghana education, I will introduce a system which will give the students the power to determined who(teachers) gets paid. The student body will keep a tap on every teacher in the school in a form of assessment. The students will assess the teachers on certain major areas such as:
1.Punctuality.
2.Presents in school five days a week.
3.Teaching abilities.
4 This should be made known to the teachers and the consequence.
