Democracy is not good for Africa because Africans are too corrupt and deserve to be ruled with iron hands. What is the sense in being wealthy and living in fear of armed robbers attacking you. A lot of Ghanaians can't sleep well because after barricading their doors with heavy metals they have to wake up several times to check outside. You have built fence walls with electrical wires on top taller than your houses because of fear. You have enslaved yourselves in your own country. The sad thing is that the politicians are heavily guarded by the police as they sleep and go about their errands, so the are protected and the vast majority are at the mercy of thieves and armed robbers. Is that life? Take your country. I am a Ghanaian American. Irrespective of where you live, all of us will die anyway. Why should I live in an environment with DDUMSOR DUMSOR, water problem, dusty and pot-holed roads, filthy gutters and streets, mediocre health care services etc. I am so happy to be living in the USA with uninterrupted supply of electricity, water, good roads, neat environment, well temperature regulated houses, unrivalled medical services and working laws. Once a while, I will visit you idiots, but will never live in that hostile environment continue to fool around, and when the oppressed becomes agitated and take guns, you will see. For me, even if in Ghana, America will evacuate me to the USA. I pity those of you who don't have any other place to go. fooooooooools!

And surely there will always be crime and criminals in Ghana just as they will be all over the world.

And surely we don't need any God-forsaken so-called 'Ghanaian American' to tell us that there's no crime in the U.S., Europe or any other part of the world. On the contrary, there's in fact more crime in the U.S. than in Ghana.

I have followed drug trafficking and violent crime in Ghana from the 1970s till now and I have come to one conclusion,poor educational background of the barons and other criminals. A cocaine trafficker is basically a murderer. Yes once a while a highly edcuated person with say a University degree may be involved in murder and drug trafficking, but it is clear that the more time people spend in school in return for a stable job, the less they would be drawn to dealing in drugs and other crimnal activity. In the 1970s, Ghanaian women allowed indian hemp to be tied around their bodies and inserted in their private parts to transport to Europe. Now it is cocaine time. These same ladies give their bodies freely to drug barons for money, just because they have no stable job that can sustain the type of extravagant lives they want to live. All boils down to lack of adequate education, I mean formal education. Majority of these "neuveau riche" riding in expensive 4x4 SUVs with mansions in high class residential areas, if their backgrounds are checked, have one thing in common, they are school drop outs. They are using all means to advertise their opulence just to conceal their lack of good education. The best investment one can give a child is to see him/her through the four walls of a University at least and he should be able to survive in the this harsh world without resorting to drug trafficking and armed robbery. I want readers to prove me wrong on this point. Cocaine traffickers and armed robbers are equal in that they cause the distruction of innocent lives and families.

Cocaine traffikers are different from armed robbers only because the returns are good and they are able to bribe their way to gain acceptabilty in political parties and other social groupings. Armed robbers normally go underground. But as you stated the effects are the same, whole families are destroyed. A well educated individual, one who has schooled for not less than twenty years would have second thoughts about taking human life or destroying it through drugs. A school drop out has no such inhibition.
