Exactly 30 years later Ghana now sees sense in this approach, after abandoning Achempong's 'Operation Feed Yourself' of the 1970s. Well, it is better late than never.

That said,I think this is going to be hard for the government because in today's Ghana we have more taste for foreign made goods than what we produce and we have Malls selling more than 99% foreign goods Ghanaians like more than what we produce including even fufu powder instead of the more nutritious local fufu prepared at homes.
One of the things that will also affect the move is locally made goods are more expensive than foreign made ones.

It is enough to say things like this but it is important for the President to lead the way and that will encourage his audience.
I also want to use this opportunity to discuss other issues which came up earlier in the week.
Sam George should tell Ghanaians what was the source of money used by their leader to finance the 2012 elections. The NDC had also intended to finance the 2016 elections with drug money hence the support and assistance offered to Miss Ametefe.Had it not been the vigilance of the UK authorities, the lady would have returned to support them with funds for the 2016 elections.
The framers of the 1992 Constitution had in mind a fair and independent Electoral Commission and have thus provided independence for the EC.Unfortunately the EC failed Ghanaians on its constitutional obligation by aiding President Mahama to win the 2012 elections. On this basis cannot be trusted to be independent anymore so Ghanaians, the sovereign people can no more permit the independence granted the EC. The law we make is to benefit us as a people but not create disharmony for us as a country. That independent status granted the EC should be reviewed before the 2016 elections.

Even excess was sold to the market. Farmers, including my grandmother can attest to this. Grew up during that time and my family , relatives benefited from this. I remember having abundance of food. If anything we experienced serious famine during the PNDC era. Although, we didn't have what we called essential commodities, such as canned foods,imported soap etc, due to Acheampong's reluctance in doing business with the IMF.

What concrete plans do you have to make this a reality when we don't have sustainable agro based backed by a strong manufacturing sector to process agro products. We don't even have the infrastructure to support the manufacturing sector: No reliable power, no potable water, no good motorable roads to transport stuff. Basically, nothing to prove that at this time Ghana and for that matter Africa can live to the expectation that they have Comparative Advantage in Agric since Adam Smith's Theory relegated us to production of raw materials for the colonial masters. We have become a market and dumping nations for the "masters".
