How to stop Corruption
1. Corruption Sensitivity Training: Educate the executives(attorney general, the judges, public officials, immigration, police officers)about the short, long term effects and impacts of corruption. Corruption Sensitivity Training should be a mandatory part of interview process, class, testing requirement for all ministers and public sector officials. Make them aware of the consequences and have them sign off on this. If judges, police officers, employees are educated and made to understand the explicit and implicit impacts of corruption and how it affects their own salaries, bonuses etc. Things will change!
2. Enforce the Law: Offenders must face jail time, tickets/fines, sell assets to payback what has been stolen, name and shame offenders in media
3. Put ethical persons in positions of power,
4. yearly revenue audits brief

The Right to Information Bill, the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan and a host of others carefully crafted and drafted to stymie the outrageous and crass looting and thievery of the Mahama NDC gov't has still not seen the light of day, even though the Mahama NDC gov't has a parliamentary majority in the House to pass these bills to address the NDC looting and thievery of the national purse.
Indeed, verdicts of the Supreme Court of Ghana, the highest court of the Land for the Mahama NDC gov't to retrieve illegally paid and corruptible funds via dubious means from self-styled NDC financiers has become a mirage in Ghana, with the country being led like sheep to the Bretton Woods institutions for all sorts of bailouts including technical and financial, credibility and confidence bailouts, with worsening standard of living as a result of the austerity measures arising from the conditionalities imposed inherently from these programs, all a consequence of the Mahama NDC gov't's humongous, unbridled, unrestrained, atrocious, menacing and repugnant penchant and propensity for overbearing and grotesque looting and thievery.
Ghana is now in an economic quagmire with very dire implications for the socio-economic development, growth and wellbeing of Ghanaians.
The critical first step is the strengthening of institutions of state tasked with checking the atrocious looting and thievery of the Mahama NDC gov't such as PIAC whose mandate concerns the management of the petroleum revenue, which it has come to the attention of the Ghanaian public is being deliberately and maliciously crippled and rendered ineffective in exercising their mandate. Another such institution is CHRAJ which has suffered a breach in executing it's mandate to the extent that, it has been excluded in some very important work geared towards addressing corruption by the international community. The list is endless.
Investigations into the acquisition of the Embraer jets commissioned by the Late President. Mills have not seen the light of day, palpable evidence of the fact that there's no meaningful and conscious effort to fight the canker of the Mahama NDC gov't's corruption.
The bills such as RTI, NACAP, and the enactment of fiscal responsibility act should be given the needed and required impetus and urgency to address the gargantuan looting and thievery of the Mahama NDC gov't.
Clearly, the political will and leadership to fight corruption, a very strong attribute of the Mahama NDC gov't which starts from the very top has not been demonstrated, and Ghana going to the Bretton Wooods institutions is ample testimony of this fact.
The Mahama NDC gov't from all indications is not serious about fighting corruption, and need to be fired at the ballot box, if Ghana is ever to move forward.

Because the last time I checked the "society in which the societal problem you so eloquently pontificate about, operates within laws" unless that is not the case in Ghana. Because there are those who indulge in this "societal problem" like the stealing of a tuber of yam, and are languishing in the cooler for 10years, but that same "societal problem" in the Mahama NDC gov't leads to an invitation to the seat of gov't; the Presidency to enjoy the loot.
Those cases that have managed to go to court and the verdict has been to retrieve the loot(a lenient judgment), are still not being complied with, and you tell him it's a "societal problem". Please preach that to the marines!!!.
The Mahama NDC gov't should stop looting and thieving the national purse and plunging the country into the depths of the bottomless pit.

If you catch a thief, don't you simply proceed to prosecute him in a dictatorship as in a democracy? If you go ahead and prosecute anyone with due swiftness, does that make it undemocratic? So, are we going to say slowness in judgement is a defining attribute of democracy? What a silly mentality, one not expected of a leader with a mission! - a leader who understands the way and manner to lead a suffering people out of economic distress.. Is the President saying that because it is a democracy so he had to wait until recently to write to instruct his ministers to do whatever about the corrupt people in their departments? These cases of corruption have been there for months. No one has seen a conclusive prosecution of any of them. A definition of democracy, indeed. Perhaps the criminals are thinking along the same line as the President that it's their democratic right to be corrupt.
If a leader can deliver, he must first have the right mentality!
Secondly, they must have declared their assets, if it's required by the constitution.

Corruption will die, if people do the jobs, for which they are paid, without expecting anything else in return. The whole populace should also stop showing appreciation for the normal duties people are paid to perform.
