Is Rawlings normal? Any sensible Ghanaian knows that the total neglect of our roads is the main cause of death on our the roads. Ironically Rawlings and his P/NDC corrupt, murderous and looting governments are responsible for the bad roads because they have stolen all the money needed for the upgrading of these roads. Unless we get a serious government to arrest all the looters, prosecute, collect the stolen monies and jail them our country will never recover. I have lived in one of the wealthiest countries in Europe for long time now, and the first time I heard someone died young, was a 51 year old man who died when in bicycle racing due to his own negligence. As a statistician, I never believed it earlier when I heard the life time of an average European is around 80 years till I experienced Europe. Get your facts right man before you talk.

You are very wrong. This is the argument put forward by the Western world which has no merit. JJ is very right. We need to hold drivers more accountable for their actions. Car owners should be sued in courts to demand compensatory damages after their vehicle is involved in an accident. This will translate to demand for insurance on all vehicles both private and public.

Secondly our young drivers on the road have drug problems. They are so high on "wee" that their judgment is impaired.

I just returned from Ghana and while there I took a sprinter bus to Kumasi but on our way we had two near misses. I got so scared that I tricked the driver that I had a running stomach and wanted to free myself. He stopped after several pleas. He stopped I went to the bush and when I came out I had a talk with him and convinced him to give me the bus keys. I drove from Bunso to Kumasi and when we got to Kumasi one gentleman asked for telephone number because he wanted to board my bus always.

Passengers should insist on their safety. To this end GPRTU should be overhauled completely. They should have the power to revoke a drivers license and also ban a driver if they are too many complaints. They should have the power to license drivers and to test drivers yearly. They should help the accident unit of the police department together with the insurance companies representative to investigate accidents. This should be done under the supervision of the district the accident took place.

Drivers should also keep log reports. Drivers should be checked for alcohol and drugs after an accident.

This is to hold them accountable.

Please stop all this blame game on one single individual. Ghana is ours and we have to collectively make it better in our own little ways.

This is the utter truth, we as Ghanaians blame everything on God. In my village I don't think anyone has had a natural death, they always blame someone else when anyone dies(spiritual). Sometimes I wonder who kills the White Man when they die?!

It is about time we look into ourselves and change our lifestyles. I could not believe seeing so many obese children in Ghana recently, queuing for fast food and thinking they are rich kids. Mums looking on happily(so sad).
And those who can't afford a days meal paying tithes to so called pastors all in the name of God.
We have lost our values as a nation and if nothing is done immediately we are doomed in the next few years to come.

This matter about choices is very important because it underlines the success or otherwise of individual lives, societies and nations. What comes out as right or wrong is all about what the choices we make.

For instance, to choose to be a christian is not and never the same as submitting to a corrupt, deceitful or fake pastor.

A stupid decision can indeed define a person's life chances, society's survival and a nation progress. Ghana is suffering because Ghanaians have chosen to be corrupt, companies and banks are exploiting people and the government has chosen to be lax on corruption, irresponsible and unaccountable. We need to use our ballots very wisely. Do not vote based on emotions, tribal sentiments but for the party which can deliver. You do not need to vote NPP just because you do not like NDC. Smaller parties may not win, but sometimes it good to vote for them in order to maintain good balance in parliament. This is the area that requires mass education as education on critical and complex issues promote choice and decision making.

The driver should use his common sense to know that that part of the road is a bit unsafe even if there is no warning. This is the reason why you should not make the choice to drive without a license and if you do have one not to drive under the influence of alcohol.

In Ghana a random survey of the attitudes of passengers is likely to reveal great passivity in challenging rogue or careless drivers. I spent three sad weeks in taxis when I visited Ghana a while ago. Drivers went well over 100 mph in tiny Daewoo cars on the Kasoa road unchallenged with other passenger sitting aloof and indifferent. When I did challenge one of them, he only increased speed to my utter amazement. Sadly this is the attitude of all professionals in Ghana with doctors being the worst. They are cocky, ignorant and unprofessional in approach. I do not know about lawyers but I cant think they are any different.

The choice to drive decently is one that would save life or otherwise. Likewise the choice to challenge nonsense behaviour is paramount in maintaining order. It is the role of the government to promote safety, stability and decent behaviour in society.

However, i have observed that the have-nots, or less privileged members of the society do not have such plans... they simply continue to give birth till they are tired, sometimes up to 10 children by a single woman!!!

I think it is mainly a problem of poor education of these people.

If you do not share the same thought with someone what you need to do is to disagree and put out your thoghts of disagreement here and others will also think of your ideas for wisdom is not in one head.
We are going wayward in the manner we use this forum.let us change and be civil in our discussions.insults can not solve anything.We need ideas to change mother Ghana.We need our energies to chamge Ghana and not insults.Ghana is for us all.
