It's the law that's being enforced against smoking wee in public. Most countries including USA, UK frown on smkking wee or cannabis in public. NB, Wayomi is on trial, if found guilty he could be sentrnced to jail as well.

DO THESE GUYS KNOW THAT UNDER KWAW KESE, FORENSICS HAVE TO BE DONE ON THE WEED HE WAS SMOKING TO PROVE IT IS WEED BEFORE HE COULD BE SENTENCED?

What evidence would have the police used against Chris Brown? We're the police there to arrest him and take evidence, other than a report and a video.

And do these guys think showing a video of a man smoking something that looks like weed can convince a Judge to jail someone? We really need education and we better learn it from the police. These guys are not dumb.

And u hear people call for police to arrest Obinim without thinking of what he will be charged for. Is he going to be charged for stepping on an adult pregnant woman's belly, who is not pressing charges? Has the woman pressed charges on Obinim? Has the woman complained of any kind of hurt as a result of her belly being stamped by Obinim? Prosecuting people is not that easy.

If the police goes about arresting and putting people in court without evidence, they'll always loose cases in court. This is a democracy with laws, not the jungle or the streets.

And since all of them at the program were his fans i don't think the police could have arrested him on hearsay. So i beleive this is different circumstances. Then again i don't know all the details on Kwaw Kesse's arrest. Am thinking the police saw him in public smoking it n got arrested.

Why didn't they arrest Chris Brown when he smoked weed on stage in Ghana and thumbed his nose at the country, in essence telling Ghanaians to "go and fuck themselves with their stupid law?

Corney, in the Colorado state where you live, how long would this guy have got for smoking weed? Not even a second in jail. The Police would not even have stopped him let alone arrest him because it is legal to smoke and sell weed in Colorado.

I am not saying because it is legal in Colorado it should be legal in Ghana but a punishment for a crime should be appropriate and a maximum eleven years in prison for smoking weed is insane.

Smoking weed should not be encouraged, I know some countries have legalized it yet they have no valid research associated to it's long time effect. Our culture does not encourage such behaviors, and the fact that Chris Brown did it in public does not make it ok like a commentator is trying to portray in their post. With respect to Chris, I believe the organizers should have been penalized because I expect them to educate artists visiting our country about our cultural values and norms, something I can tell is shrinking now because of globalization but we must not loose touch.

It's just a case of kangaroo court injustice run by an idiotic judge who will be hard-pressed to justify his stand if challenged by attorneys who are fearless and willing to fight this knuckle-head voodoo judge. It's very obvious that the judge is not following any law. For if he were, the accused would not have been denied bail for this offense, particularly when the police stupidly claimed they were not ready with forencic tests and that the accused should therefore not be allowed bail. Someone needs to file a disciplinary complaint against this worthless judge. Crooks and are granted bail for very serious offenses, yet this man is denied bail merely for the crime of smoking weed in public. He'll be tried eventually, so what is the use denying him bail? Does the judge and prosecution believe that this man will skip bail for this type of offense? Something is very wrong with the courts in Ghana, and it's sad that the bar association refuses to take a stand on such issues.

What evidence would have the police used against Chris Brown? We're the police there to arrest him and take evidence, other than a report and a video.

And do these guys think showing a video of a man smoking something that looks like weed can convince a Judge to jail someone? We really need education and we better learn it from the police. These guys are not dumb.

And u hear people call for police to arrest Obinim without thinking of what he will be charged for. Is he going to be charged for stepping on an adult pregnant woman's belly, who is not pressing charges? Has the woman pressed charges on Obinim? Has the woman complained of any kind of hurt as a result of her belly being stamped by Obinim? Prosecuting people is not that easy.

If the police goes about arresting and putting people in court without evidence, they'll always loose cases in court. This is a democracy with laws, not the jungle or the streets.

It is a shame that in Ghana people go to jail and they die there because Ghanaian authorities see jail as punishment instead of correction" In advanced countries jai are referred to as "Corrections department" because the institution is to reform such a person while in Ghana they just put you there to punish you till you die. Recently a fashion boss serving 15 years just died because of ordinary acute appendicitis - something which you just go in to the hospital for fixing and sent home the same day (ambulatory service). I think the prison services should see those in aerated as human beings and should be treated as such. So mocking wee in public should not attract this kind of severe punishment. After all he has not murdered another person. Parliament should enact a low minimizing thse arrested with such offenses to preserve the life off it's citizens.

And that's in the country where some of the States has legalised the use if marijuana . He was a suspect for selling drugs in the street. If you are arrested In china for drug, the only sentence you have is death. The law in ghana recognize weed as illegal drug and therefore anyone who uses or posses will be prosecuted. Not only in public but also your own home. There is penalty for all offences and the penalty for smoking weed or passing weed is to serve 11-15 years so don't politicise the arrest of this guy who knows his left from right. He is a citizen of ghana and must be dealt with. He was arrested in his region. The president has nothing to do with it
Nor his party has. Rawlings did smoked weed in public and that was during the military rule. When he became civilian, he didn't do that because he knew there is a law in the country which punishes such acts.
