All Joe public knows is that the government of the day is blowing money amongst themselves driving in flashy cars etc.
The radio stations also have to engage with Joe public rather than the continual engaging with the serial callers to ‘put down’ the government. There are too many partisan debates. Do some Ghanaians know or understand what this austerity mean? Please Mr. President –you and your ministers need to do more EDUCATE, EDUCATE and EDUCATE the public.
All Joe public knows is that the government of the day is blowing money amongst themselves driving in flashy cars etc.
The radio stations also have to engage with Joe public rather than the continual engaging with the serial callers to ‘put down’ the government. There are too many partisan debates. Those at the grass roots need to be encouraged to be involved in the debates that affect their lives and that of their family.

Maybe your government has been too overly ambitious and over enthusiastic in undertaking so many development projects within a short time by relying on loans all in an attempt to outdo the previous NPP government.

Mahama paused and said that he knows when he explains it to his people, they will understand.The interviewer was making a point that looking at the electoral constituent, those who vote for the president party are the poorest in the country and thinks the austerity measures will worsen their plight.in fact, Mahama did not boldly say he will want to pay the price. The debts accumulated from the past and present must be paid through sometimes drastic economic plans. On the other hand, austerity measures must go hand in had with planning that grows the economy. When the economy grows, every one benefits; it is a fact of life. Austerity measures alone cannot make the economy grow. Cutting spending alone cannot do the job. World economic history has shown that no economy has succeeded through austerity restructuring alone.It needs to be combined with spending that can create growth. If I do sound repetitive it is deliberate, just for emphasis. Sir, while it may be the way to go, please do not forget that nobody grows through starvation and this applies to national economies too. It is all about the right balance.
