Mr. Mahama is exactly one of the visionless African leaders that have always been accused of misplacing their priorities. Does the NDC government think, despite the massive corruption, they can borrow recklessly and spend their way foolishly into another mandate in 2016, when the nation is over burdened with HIPC and workers wallowing in hunger and over taxed?

Governance under the NDC government is all about deceit and 'opium of the people'. They enjoy everything under the sun but ask us to wait for our basic needs in heaven. And as they ask us to tighten our belts for future betterment, they loosen theirs for immediate consumption. They didn't even respect our intelligence when they asked us to wait for a paradise in three years. The truth is that, everything they promise is a mirage and we will never find comfort under them because; they are con-men with con plans.

In Germany, even if you have no TV, but has a radio in your car, you'll pay. If you hace an alarm radio, you'll pay.

Two yeras ago, they added internet-enabled computers - which every home has to the list.

In short, no single person can dodge that licence in Germany. I know some Ghana man who owes over EUR 900 and is now paying by installment.

That TV license fee was introduced by the PNDC government those days when we have only GBC and at that time many regions hardly watch GBC TV including those in my region and they made it clear no matter what they were not going to pay for a service they don't enjoy and I believe 99% or more never paid and now ask yourself why will people pay for a TV set after paying tax to purchase them at the time we have many TV stations and satellite companies.

Even the capitalist countries like America people who don't want cable or satellite have access to at least 10 channels for free so why should people in a poor country like Ghana pay to watch basic TV when they already paid taxes on the TV set including NHIS and other social services tax?

The most annoying part is that those making these laws will never paid but will expect the poor man to pay like how the poor man pays for all services while the ministers enjoy all those services for free.

How on earth can I pay for a set of TV when I'm already paying or paid tax on that same TV set?
They way we are behaving very soon we will start asking pedestrians to pay tax for walking on sidewalks with the argument that we spend money to construct them or people pay tax on every sex they have with their spouses.

Very sad.

In south Africa, you can not buy a tv without tv license. This is to help the media who feeds you and the other media companies . We pay for tv here in china and that is from monthly to yearly. Nothing like media is free in the world.

Reading from the above article it seems the fee is just a levy not a licence.

Once you had gone to purchase TV set the next thing to call a cable company and book appointment with them. Once the appointment was booked they will be at your apartment and hook your TV to their Cable box that enables you watch your TV and they send you monthly bills depending on the package you had chosen. It's never free anywhere therefore no politics in this TV License matter. It will generate revenue which will go along way to help the country.

Corney do you know that in the States you pay tax on set of pencil that costs 99 cents and virtually on everything except on limited amount of tax free on clothing and free on all food items? I know you watch what we call local channels which people view like it's snowing free, no doubt about that. Do you really live in the US, pay bills and do shopping. I don't think so, and judging from where you're coming from I think you're really ignorant about taxes and I want to remind that there's absolutely no service free of charge in the US and introducing taxes on TV services in Ghana is long overdue and must be supported unlike a silly person like you.
