The truth is the EPA is simply not equipped to handle these issues. They are underfunded and under staffed and haven't got a clue.Mining companies have been polluting our environment for a long time now.Its nothing new.Since Ghana doesn't enforce its laws, it sends a message to these mining companies that they can do what they want and they do.Nobody inspects them anyway. Now we have oil and gas and the we dont even have regulations for health and safety. We are indeed sitting on a time bomb and as usual the African man does not act until there is a major catastrophe.

The President must cut himself loose of the gentlemanly and meek posture and robustly seek to protect the resources of the state. He should deploy the large army of security personnel and lay out law and order in the affairs of state. We need a passionate commander in chief who is genuinely committed to safeguarding the interests of the nation, not one who is in haste to surrender our strategic interests to foreigners. The architects of the Revolution have sent out warnings that the country is ripe for an eruption. He should please govern with nationalistic fervour. He seems to be joking with the lessons of Burkina Faso. If he continues to stay aloof, the rumbling would hit the lid and the day Nima would cross over to Kanda, he would find himself alone with all fingers pointing at him !!!

The solution to these problems is simple. The heads of institutions charged and paid to protect tyhe environment MUST be sacked and sacked well. This is the only remedy to the problem. Sack those officials concerned who are not doing thier work effectively.I as an individual can not stop the mining companies from operating and destroying our environment but the state institution like EPA has contitutional mandate to to so. Therefore, if they are the ones complaining, I say the heads MUST be sacked and sacked well.
