It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

Energy crisis can only be solved by scientists and engineers but not a mere administrator.I would like to see the kind of team the Minister will put in place and the kind of resources Mr President will make available.As for me,the immediate solution is to stop the expansion of power distribution to the rural areas for sometime and allocate resources to more construction of thermal plants that will use gas.Again,invest in solar energy for rural areas and domestic use.These are technical plans that can help eliminate the dumsur phenomenon.According to geological survey,Ghana is sitting on a very huge natural gas that can be found in the Western,Central,Northern and the Volta.Therefore,we have no excuse to remain static.We have also abandant of sunshine for solar energy,therefore we have no reason to be dormant.The Power Ministry is welcomed but it should be a technical orientation than bureaucratic.In my estimation,each of the 4 natural deposited region can generate over 1000 megawatts.If you add the hydro electric from Akosombo,Bui and Kpong plus a bit from solar energy then we are already in excess of 5000 megawatts that will send dumsur to rest.Thank you.

Allow those who can afford it to freely import solar lamps, solar panels, wind generators, batteries, controllers and inverters to supplement their power supply. This may turn out to be a huge plus for the authorities - as pressure would then ease on the ongoing Dumsor, Dumor. Many Ghanaians, and certainly most in the diaspora would rush to send down systems to incorporate in their homes, or help their relatives to acquire the systems. Solar, wind and other alternative small-scale power systems would then mushroom like we now find mobile phones everywhere in Ghana. ECG would then be free to cater mainly for heavy industry and the like. Let's put pressure on government to remove all import duties on solar, wind and supplementary equipment!!!

2. The new Power Minister should seek enery investors and liberalize energy investment opportunitiies to attract, especially Ghanaians in diaspora.
3. Dr. Kwabena Donkor must quickly turn to expanding our energy mix to include the use of roof top photovoltaic cells, wind farms, off shore wind turbines, waste-to-energy-conversion systems, biomass, micro hydros, ocean tides, and clean coal.

We must all participate to nick dumsor dumsor in the bud.

As much as we can get different sources of energy,we should also be looking at environmental hazards,cost and the technical know how.So far as I am concerned Ghana has more experience in hydro and thermal energy than the rest.You may be surprised to know the volume of natural gas reserve we have but we are not benefitting from it.As the adage goes,"necessity is the mother of invention" we must all find a lasting solution to dumsur.I strongly believe if we build more thermal plants that will use gas to generate power then we can make it easily and cheaper.We don't even need gas from Nigeria if the geological survey I saw is correct.Thank you.

You made promises but never followed up. What can Dr. Kwabena Donkor do now that you guys did not know before? Had he not been in the highest level of decision-making about Electricity all this while? Will calling him a Minister make a difference? does he have his own Funds to start any projects? No!
You have known our constitution for example also is defective in giving the President too much power and crippling all your appointed DCE, MCE, Regional Ministers and have you done anything about it? No!
We need to hand over our nation to a UN appointed Management Team till all systems of management under a democracy have been put in place and our people trained how democracy works; and that is the only way confidence will be restored. Ghana is a failed state! NO more promises!
