Every student in a tertiary institution is an adult. Some are married with families others may be business executives. Needless to say the authorities must be professional and the institution must aim at higher standards.

Asking a tertiary student to kneel down and raise his or her hands in front of the class is unacceptable and can only lead to an obsequious, incompetent and subservient graduate; it is corporal punishment.
The Ghana Education Service has banned corporal punishments in all schools from kindergarten.
It looks like the autonomy granted to some public universities is leading to deterioration.
