This group is acting like the Boko Haram trying toenforce sharia laws in Ghana so whether they have any affiliation to Boko Haram or not, they are acting like them.

They are just a band of unemployed young men who are keenly bent on venting their anger on innocent and weak residents of their neighborhood.

Harsh treatment of suspects...they are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.....does not serve a useful purpose. What it does in the long run, is escalate tensions and alienate the very people they are seeking to protect. To those calling for stern action from authorities, go and read the circumstances that led to the formation of Boko Haram in the northeastern corner of Nigeria, Maiduguri. Boko Haram was not initially a terrorist group until authorities reacted rather harshly to a gathering of supporters of a muslim cleric. Hundreds were killed and thereafter the rebellion started and we all know the deadly consequences...

The knuckleheads know damn well that their efforts would not go far as Ghanaians are wary of any self-styled Islamic group abrogating to itself the power to discipline those who don't conform to its rigid regulations....However, police authorities on the other hand have the responsibility to treat this case with caution.

I recently conducted a research on youth unemployment in Ghana and I was shocked when I came face to face with the stagerring number of oung people who did extremely well in Wassce but had D7 in maths and as such were not admitted to the universities in Ghana as a result of a directive from Government. Indeed I weep everyday knowing that eachg year hundreds of young people with D7 will not be allowed to enroll at our universities yet we have a parliament with men and women parading as honourables and yet do not care a hoot about the trauma and depression that we are subjecting these poor young people and their parents to.

Now, the Police is denying they are Boko Haram, but rather that it is a "nickname" which they have gotten from the community. I would say that it is such trivialization of things that have caused exactly the same Boko Haram mess in Nigeria. Nip it in the bud before it reaches that extent.

Today's technology easily exposes any hidden event. It is better to tell the truth and receive the help needed than lying about it. What would prompt these idiots to do that. What is or are their reasons for such behavior? That was how Boko Haram emerged! Don't be complacent and the times we are living in. It's a shame the Imams and the larger Islamic community in Ghana has not logged any formal protest to the Zongo community where the incident occurred. But it must by a wake up call to the security authorities as how things can descend into chaos. Our muslim brothers and sisters should learn from other countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Irag etc. In Ghana, if such a moslim militant group does exist and emerges, the carnage on the muslim community will be without measure, because Ghanaians don't nonsense, but PEACE regardless of the economic harships.
