A bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep.

Pretty soon all the other bats smelt the blood and began hassling him about where he got it.

A bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep.

Pretty soon all the other bats smelt the blood and began hassling him about where he got it.

He told them to go way ! And let him get some sleep, but they persisted until he finally gave in.

"OK, follow me," he said and flew out of the cave with hundreds of bats behind him.

Down through a valley they went, across a river and into a forest of trees.

Finally he slowed down and all the other bats excitedly milled around him.

"Now, do you see that tree over there?" he asked.
"Yes, Yes, Yes!" the bats all screamed in a frenzy.
"Good!" said the first bat, "Because I didn't!

The bat family in general and is known for harboring particularly corona viruses which include the one that causes bird flu, SARS and the so-called Middle East Respiratory condition MERS-CoV.

We should be more worried about the blood-sucking bats although fruit-eating bats can also carry diseases.

That said, we have had these bats migrate in our region for a long time and not had any outbreaks. E.g. we have them hanging around 37 military hospital Neem trees and this has been the case for many years. Advice to our hunters especially in the area and those who choose to hunt bats for their meat to just desist the temptation in the light of recent diseases such as Ebola in the region.

The current matter of these bats should be taken seriously by all the concerned authorities. I could remember the president citing bats as carriers of Ebola and if that is the case, what is the government doing about the situ ...

The current matter of these bats should be taken seriously by all the concerned authorities. I could remember the president citing bats as carriers of Ebola and if that is the case, what is the government doing about the situation? Prevention is better than cure. Let us do everything in our power to prevent Ebola in Ghana. I hope somebody make this article entitled "Bats invade Bia District in WR" available to the president to take immediate action on the issue.
