For a very long time I never heard about him up until recently.

What you wrote is not different from what I believe,nobody can convince me that this girl was raped in a hotel bathroom where she was with this man alone and after the rape sat with this man to have drinks and watch movie with him before reporting to police,never struggled with the man,never screamed or after the act run out to raise alarm she has been raped.

I believe it was either about money or the man wanted just a short service as they call it there but she wanted to spend the night with him.

This case is similar to what happened to the late Arkaah the former Vice President who was accused of raping a lady which many of us disputed.
I think with today's technology we now have to start recording sexual encounters with women otherwise we will all end up in jail.

It is sad anytime there is an issue of this nature some of us sentence the accused befor he or she even appears in court.

Recently, I myself went on holidays to Ghana and stayed with my sister who had a very pretty 17yr-old girl helping her at home with her 8yr-old daughter. The house-helps parents did not have the funds to send her to school so she was helping out with my sisters daughter for a little amount at the end of the month.

This girl was very attractive and on a number of occassions I was left with her at home.

Its not difficult to understand why such vulnerable girls like this are helpless to the overtures of powerful men.

A number of times there was the temptation to sleep with this girl and she would not have refused either because of fear of what would happen to her if she refuses or would give in in the expectation that I would give her a favour.

But my conscience got the better of me over my dic.k knowing that this is a vulnerable girl who needs help rather than to be taken advantage of.

Lots of men in Ghana do not have such awareness and sympathy and end up raping anything there perceive as vulnerable and weak.

If this would have happened in the man's house or the lady's house, I would have no problem believing her but going to a hotel room with a man and later drinking with him after the alleged rape is hard for me to believe. Seems to me the man failed to fulfill a promise made which infuriated this lady to resort to this. I am very harsh on rapists but not all allegations of rape are true and this is one rape allegation I don't believe.

At the same time, there are people both males and females who file false reports to tarnish peoples' image or put them in jail. Therefore, every rape accusation must be examined thoroughly to find out if in fact, it happened without consent. As you know, when a consentual sexual act occurs, either partner can change their mind and cry foul. That's my biggest concern.

The complainant is a 19-year-old student residing with her parents at Katamanso.
The accused, Kwesi Kyei Darkwah is a broadcaster and resides at Tema.
On December 27, 2014 at about 7:30 pm, “there was an event called ‘RIP the RUNWAY fahion show organised at the African Regent Hotel, which the complainant attended together with her cousin.
When they arrived at the show, they met the accused person in front of the hotel after pleasantries and attractions. They walked into the lobby where the accused introduced them to his cousin who was also at the show.
The complainant and her cousin took few pictures with the accused person, his cousin and other men. Accused, who admired the height of the complainant asked her and her cousin to accompany them to the hotel room to powder his face before the show because he will be on stage and he will be captured by TV camera.
The complainant and accused took one of the lifts to the third floor of the hotel and went into the room together with her cousin and the accused’s cousin.
They were offered drinks, but they refused and sat down. While there, the accused called the complainant to come and help him do make up in the washroom. The complainant obliged and entered the washroom leaving the two in the living room.
The Accused forcibly had sex with the complainant in the washroom. A report was made to the police and a medical report was issued to the complainant to attend hospital. When the Accused was arrested, he denied the offence and stated that the complainant gave her consent and that he did not force her. He is, however, charged with the offence before this court,” the charged sheet said.

Ama, if what you are saying is the gospel fact (and I have not doubt that you are honest), then, I strongly urge you to get support from either some of the human rights NGOs or Women Advocacy groups in Ghana. You should not suffer in silence. Alternatively, yo can see a good lawyer to represent you. These celebrity men in Ghana misuse their fame and position in society to rape women because they believe they can get away with it.

Here in the UK their cups are full and many of them have been tried and jailed from sexual crimes they committed years ago. I hope the same happens in Ghana so that rapists would be tried and jailed. As far as the crime of rape is concerned, the statute of limitation does not apply. That means no matter how long the rape took place the rapist can be prosecuted.

Ama, you will also need help (counselling) for what happened to you. That could assist you to understand that not all men are rapists so you can form good relationship with men. Be strong and good luck.

KKD must stop the his baseless explanation. He should be advised by his lawyer. What he has to know is that the girl need not to shout for help to justify his case. Any form of duress or undue influence which did not establish her CONSENT to any sexual act with KKD is rape, period. The girl might not have the courage to shout because of fear, emotionally arrested or KKD might have threatened her. To say that she should have shouted to prove rape is rather unintelligent, flippant and stupid defence in the circumstances. I am surprised that having resided in UK for all these years KKD does not understand the meaning and implication of rape as alleged by Effe. KKD MUST BECAREFUL, HE DOES NOT IMPLICATE HIMSELF.
