  A defamation law suit at Accra Fast Track court? What a farce? Wasn't the court established primarily to ensure speedy trial of corruption cases? What purpose will it serve for fast tracking this case? Journalists are supposed to have the freedom to write. If the story written about the banker is completely false, the newspaper should render an apology on its first page. The offended person should also be given the chance to rebut the accusations. And then we move. Whereas individuals have the right not to be defamed, the courts should realize that by entertaining such law suits, courts are stifling press freedom which is vital for any vibrant democracy.

If Ms Ametefeh has been allegedly doing such manoeuvres since 2009 goodness knows how many of such people have used this method just because of their status in society as security around such people have been relaxed. No one can be trusted when it comes to such issues any more as our security is at stake. We should not even allow the VVIP section security to be relaxed so that unscrupulous people take advantage of such freedom afforded to them in the wake of this saga".
