There is growing irritation amongst concerned citizens and stakeholders on the lack of information from the President and the MPs (representatives) on how we have fared so far.

The government must provide the needed information as soon as possible.t

If this does not make the compelling argument for the award then I don't know what else will. Yahya Toure is a great player and deserves the award but he has won it a couple more times and it's time to recognize and encourage another African Star. Gyan out-performed Toure on the World stage which brought together the cream of the cream in world football.

However 53 judges cannot be wrong. They were not looking for the highest scorer in the world cup or any other cup for that matter; otherwise players in the defense and goalkeepers will never win any such awards. They used their own stipulated criteria, not ours, to make their judgment and we must learn to respect and accept their decisions period. After all great Ghanaian players like Sunday Ibrahim and others have won this prestigious award before and Ghana was not a French speaking country then. I would definitely have chosen the Nigerian goal-keeper over Gyan any day although I speak no Yoruba or effik!

For any Ghanaian to win, they should have extremely excelled in all disciplines and I am afraid Gyan didn't, simply put the player has to be exceptional not to be denied. Now I am not saying that a player has to be super exceptional to win the CAP Africa player of the year, but the supposition applies AT LEAST to Ghanaian players. Remember Sammy Kufour, how about Essien, and even Appiah? All these players played at the highest level, in the toughest league and were influential in their various teams, akin to what CAF uses to mundanely bestow the award on someone like Yaya Toure.

For Christ sake, CAF is a mafia group! Eto should NOT have won the award 4 times but he did, Yaya Toure is also likely to win 4 times but again, I do not think any of these players are in any shape and measure better than George Weah, Abedi Pele or Roger Milla.

Gyan could have won if CAF wanted him to but again Gyan's expectations are consistent given he feels the other three selected are non better than him and as a matter of fact, he performed better than them - well literally.

To me Yacine Brahimi of Algeria and FC Porto should win the award this year. It would have been impossible to deny Gyan in 2010 had he scored the penalty against Uruguay in 2010, stayed at Sunderland and scored at least 15 league goals.

It is like saying Germany's Miroslav Klose shd be in the European reckoning because he is the leading goal-scorer of ALL TIME in World Cup history. Klose knows there are others doing far better than him in Europe so he isn't going to kill himself over that. And I cant imagine Gyan saying he is a better player than Yaya Toure. I am a Ghanaian, I am patriotic, but after the maestro Abedi Pele, the next Ghanaian player I think came closest to winning the enviable title was Michael Essien in top form in his hey-days at Chelsea. All other players have not and still do not make the cut.
