If workers pay tax to the government so that it can use it for other work like Zoomlion to do the cleaning and they do their work, but government refuse to pay them and at the end zoomlion stop working, who is to be blamed for most of the filt in the region? Why do you want to force the mass to do the cleaning, if the tax payers money is been hide or spend for other things?
Corruption is killing everything in the region and country. Asantehe will never do something for free. He and Mr. Boakye have their share somewhere.

Where is the TAX Money collected by Govt. for the country's sanitation ?
Most Ghanaians allow themselves to be fooled by Governments, like the NDC, because they refuse to analyse issues and draw conclusions and moreover, refuse to use their minds.
Please, ask the NDC Govt. to show you where the sanitation money mentioned in the budget went ?
Those people asking you to show up on sanitation days have stolen that money. This include the Asantehene and all the "YENTIE OBI ARA" people.
This is how corruption starts.

Asantehene must be just in the Kumawu stool dispute for Peace to prevail in his vicinity and that will make productivity possible. He shouldn't preace while practicing vice.

I am also old enough to remember the town council sanitary inspectors although I do not remember them being corrupt. They were efficient and did their Jobs well. However, the Asantehene"s comment is pointless rhetoric. Our leaders seem to think talk and rhetoric is synonymous with government, it is not. Our leaders should stop talking and entreating people to do this and that and enforce the laws of the country. Unfortunately we have proven time and time again that we have no rule of law and do not enforce many of the laws of the country. We need leaders but they in short supply in Ghana.

It beggars belief that, 30years since this P(NDC)military/political gov't burst onto the governance landscape, they have not been able to offer any pragmatic interventions towards sanitation improvement, although as of 2009, these guys were promising Ghanaians of ridding the country of filth in 100 days.
On myjoyonline, there's a news report that, the filth and rubbish in the choked gutters that were removed and dumped by the roadside and on pavements during the NSD in some areas of Kumasi, are still sitting there even as we speak. It has not been cleared by the city authorities, or the waste management companies contracted to clear the rubbish. That is a public health hazard in itself waiting to happen.
Why do we as a country construct roads with open drains? How do building inspectors give approval for homes without proper sanitary and sewage systems? What have we done as a country to continually maintain, improve and build upon the sewage and drainage system in the country? Why do we not have trash receptacles in homes that are collected on specified days of the week by the city authorities or by waste management companies contracted by the authorities? Why do we have one company exerting monopoly over waste collection in the country? Why is it that, we don't have a system to deal with city waste as against residential waste and prioritize accordingly in terms of logistics and resources as a function of volume generated? What would it take to have a convenient point in residential neighborhoods where trash and rubbish generated in homes are kept before being picked up by the waste management companies or by the city authorities on either a daily basis or on some days of the week?
Why is it that, we have not devised a program, strategy and interventions that make waste, a rewarding economic and energy venture?
Surely, there is so much that can be done and the thing is, waste collection and management are being sensibly done in the country successfully.
What would it take to look at the model, and replicate it on a scale that addresses the waste and sanitation situation in the country by the careful, prudent and judicious application of funds and resources? Are we so oblivious and so myopic that, we cannot even adopt best practices even within the country?
Good sanitary conditions increase productivity however, there's a very pragmatic approach that yields better results, better management of time, and improved efficiency and effectiveness and that should be the goal of our waste management activities.

SAD INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111.
I think the problems is self-discipline,education and patriotism.
NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT GHANA ANYMORE.
Over here in CANADA,a child is taught on how to put refuse in the refuse bin,at a very early age, when he doesn't even reach that height.
The father will just lift the baby to the level of the can/bin,then he/she deposits in it.
THESE LITTLE KIDS ARE TRAINED FROM THE ONSET,TO DEPOSIT REFUSE IN THAT CANS.
Even the bible says, train a child the way he should go,and when he grows,he will not depart from it.
Self-discipline training, education, has to start from the early STAGES OF OUR CHILDREN,IN GHANA TOO.
Parents have to start it,so they can pass it on to their children too.
There has to be order in our society, because order ensures productivity.
WHAT IS ORDER,THEN?
It simply, the accurate arrangement of things.
When there is order, one will not put something in a wrong position, but the right.
Order at offices, businesses eliminates corruption and therefore ensures good productivity.
Order in the streets prevents accidents.
WHY DO THEY SAY "ORDER" AT THE COURT,WHEN THERE IS NOISE?
We have to recognize and embrace order in our society, and that will go a long way to solve lots of our problems.
KUMASI DESERVES CLEANLINESS,AS WELL AS OTHER CITIES AND TOWNS IN GHANA.
