Today, what is stopping the CPP leadership to reach out to our market women in their markets and preach to them, and what is stopping the CPP to hit our schools and educate them about nation hood patriotism?

Strong partisanship started in Ghana when Kwame Nkrumah divided the nation into patriots and traitors. Patriots were those who accepted that he should be president for life, practice one party state and communism and indulge in leftist anti-Western propaganda using the small country's meager resources to challenge centuries' old, well-established Western countries. They even accepted that he should act as savior of the Blackman around the world, while tyrannizing his own Black people at home because they had alternative views for development of their country.

Those who wanted him to concentrate more on basic needs of the young nation and tone down his rhetoric against the powerful were called traitors, reactionaries, and agents of imperialism that should be liquidated and imprisoned dead or alive. Could you believe that the opposition members he was tyrannizing were the very people who started the struggle for our independence? They employed Nkrumah and paid for his ticket from the UK to come and work as general secretary of the group, saving him from the tyranny of unemployment in London. The independence struggle vanguards were senior civil servants in the Gold Coast. And as their struggle was gaining momentum and scope of their activities widening, they needed someone to work full-time for the group; free from official work constrains to further spread message of the struggle.

Under their responsibility and protection, Nkrumah used the platform to become public face of the group and his popularity soared. This was because; many of the people in those days could not differentiate between the spokesperson and the leaders, and therefore, saw him as the person or the only person that was fighting for our independence. Subsequently, when he heard from the Governor General's female secretary, who was later sacked, that the British had been preparing to grant us independence, he increasingly used needless militant tactics to provoke the Whiteman, when it was clear that the wind of change was blowing, and also embarrass his employers in order to outfox them. He then used the opportunity to break away from the group, forming his own party and slapping them from behind to take power.

This explains the strong partisanship in the country and why Nkrumah didn't want the Liberation Vanguards to ever come to power in his life time. Maybe he was afraid of his own ghost or because of his being a red sickle communist. Unfortunately, and despite all these plain facts, his supporters still want us to believe that he initiated, spearheaded and single handedly fought for our independence, and name every national project after him as if we were in a kingdom.

Although the series were used by FK to rebut our argument, we actually found them to be in support of our position. Therefore, the following excerpts are only from Dr. Asamoah's Three-part series entitled, Kwame Nkrumah: The ONE and ONLY Founding Father of Ghana -2014 Independence Day Special..

UGCC MISTAKENLY HIRED A PAN-AFRICAN COMMUNIST
"The fact is Nkrumah initially was reluctant to accept the offer as he perceived the UGCC members to be “bourgeois reactionaries” enamored in capitalist ideology and philosophy." "Secondly, he, as the General-Secretary of West African National Secretariat, as well as Chairman of “The Circle,” was at the time busy working on a West African National Conference towards a Union of West African Socialist Republics, slated to be held in Lagos in October 1948."

CONSPIRACY HATCHED IN LONDON TO SABOTAGE UGCC
"Nonetheless, after meeting with his comrades in the West African National Secretariat, it was decided that Nkrumah should accept the offer and return to operationalize the 1945 Manchester Pan-African Congress resolutions. Nkrumah assured them that he would not compromise with the reactionaries and reformists in the UGCC (Smertin)"

UGCC SENSES DANGER (THEY HAVE PATAKU (Wolf) IN THEIR MIDST)
"They (UGCC) brought many charges against Nkrumah based on differences in vision, ideology, philosophy and strategy. One was the word “Comrade” in one of Nkrumah’s letters Obetsebi Lamptey and William Ofori Attah had confiscated from Nkrumah’s office in Saltpond. They quizzed him about the word comrade, since they found it to be synonymous with Communism. Second. The Working Committee accused Nkrumah of acting outside his authority…" "They blamed Ako Adjei for his role in recommending Nkrumah to the group." "Dr. J. B. Danquah wept saying that he would not have supported the recommendation by Ako Adjei, had he (Danquah) known of Nkrumah’s ideological persuasion."

SECRET NETWORK IN THE NAME OF UGCC TO OUTFOX ITS LEADERSHIP
"The (UGCC) Working Committee accused Nkrumah of establishing a Youth Study Group at youth movement with the Ashanti Youth Association and the Ghana Youth Association of Sekondi, and become known as the Committee on Youth Organization (CYO).The CYO, Nkrumah explained to the Working Committee, was to serve as the youth wing of the UGCC, yet they still objected to its formation. They found the CYO’s manifesto, “Self-Government Now” a threat to the program of the UGCC, “Self-Government within the shortest possible time.”… All the while, Nkrumah and his Comrades were working on turning the CYO into a political party." And that was the origin of the CPP party.

These types of socialist arguments could deceive Ghanaians in the 50s and 60s, but they cannot do so now. Nkrumah was the first leader to introduce unsustainable debt into this country by borrowing massively and unnecessarily to finance his whims and caprices. It was a misfortune that we had such a person as president immediately after the independence. He didn't lay a realistic economic foundation for sustainable development of the young nation at all, considering the amount of money that was at his disposal in those days.

Ghana had about one billion dollars in reserve when Nkrumah took over the reins of government from the colonial master. Could you imagine what the value of 1bn dollars was in the early fifties? Again, after 2years of his rule, cocoa prices at the world market rocketed and increased four-fold. But contrary to any sound economic planning, he did not reserve any fraction of the windfall for a rainy day as the Whiteman had done with only one fourth of the revenues he got from cocoa. So, what did Nkrumah do with all the revenue he got from the astronomical cocoa prices, and the big reserve he inherited that took many years to build for our financial stability and sustainable development?

The man just went on a spending spree both in Ghana and around the world, throwing his weight about and talking big. So when the cocoa prices fell close to the end of his rule, he was quick to point accusing fingers at the West, blaming them for manipulating cocoa prices to sabotage the economy of Ghana and overthrow his government. Finally, after misusing all the money mainly on useless prestigious projects, failed communist agricultural projects and whimsical mad rush industrialization projects that did not withstand the test of time, he also burdened the young nation with another billion dollars' debt before he was forced out of the country.

The truth is that, Nkrumah's ideas were unsuitable for growing the economy since the communist system lucks mechanisms and incentives that release energies of the people to create wealth. He, therefore, met a rich and confident country with huge potentials, and left it nearly bankrupt in some few years as a result of gross mismanagement.

I love Nkrumah because he's the greatest African and invariably that makes him the greatest Ghanaian but the cpp should change the strategy of using his name to front everything they do as over 50% of voters do not know exactly who he is and see him as some myth which people talk about but do not feel him. The ideas are still relevant and should still be propagated but the cpp should take over those ideas as their own and look for an inspirational leader to carry it forward rather than depend on the dead man as their leader. The CPP needs a new leader in his own right. Nkrumah is physically dead. His ideas are still alive but he is dead. A new leader should inherent those ideas and treat them as his. Simply saying Nkrumah Nkrumah all the time without getting a charismatic leader to lead wouldn't work.

The NPP people went to the same schools we all went to that molded us to hate Ghana. NPP ppl go to the same church like the rest of us that uphold a strange and foreign culture that denigrates all that made us black ppl for thousands of years.
The result of this is the filth that we care less about and the greed and dishonesty that we unashamedly welcome to our lives.
If NPP ppl living in Burkina Faso -The Land Of The Upright People, only then I could give them some slack.
Were NPP not part of the uncivilized MPs who imported fancy plastic furniture to decorate parliament where we could use beautiful wood and the best of our artisans and force them to give us their best to reflect our CAN-DO spirit?
And again, If NPP ppl were Marsians from Mars, I will cut them some slack.
But alas, they are not. Rather, they're full blooded Ghanaians just like their peers in NDC who believe in running down state institutions deliberately in order to make it unprofitable so they can give it out to their "friends" in Europe.

What people are we? What really is our national interest? Where is the leadership we used to have? Why are our security “people” sleeping in the face of inducements? Why are our political leaders continually becoming corrupt. Who left the doorpost ajar? Why do we create dirt thoughtlessly and insult those who reprimand for doing so? Why should we urinate or toilet anywhere we deem fit, as long as the corner is “OK” for us? Why should be be proud to refer to ourselves as a lawless people? Why are our lands sold without proper planning? Why do we forget to include public restrooms or toilet facilities or urinals in our city plannings.

Perhaps it does not matter who were are; whether we are Christians or Muslims or traditionalists, or literates or illiterates, or poor or rich, or young or old or male or female, or our ethnicity - It is that we have all evolved into one careless and thoughtless nation?

So what underlie our lawless-indiscriminate behaviors and attitudes as a people? Have we totally lost control of direction? Or is it that we have become entirely selfish? Is that we simply do not care about the future of our children? Is it the case of poor memory of who our ancestors were? Did we forget the good days when paid sanitary workers cleaned our towns and villages?

Are we becoming less wise as a people? Were our ancestors wiser than we are today? Didn’t they mobilize the cleaning of our streams and rivers? Didn’t our mother get up early in the morning to clean in and around our homes? Didn’t our town-council men and women clean our streets in those days? So what happened to us in the course of the years?

What happened during the transition from traditional to mass political leadership? Who dropped the ball? Why didn’t our contemporary leaders build on those good values of our forefathers and foremothers? How did we get to where we are now? Shouldn’t we go back to our roots? Should we go back to the days when our leaders organized public forums to facilitate discussion of our problems? Shouldn't our politicians thinks in terms of how they can re-conceptualize the ideals of our ancestors? Should the media rethink their role in nation building? Should our traditional rulers reconsider their place in nation building at least in the local context? Shouldn’t the clergy begin to consider educating their members about these social issues hampering our progress? Shouldn’t our schools be reformed to address the values we uphold as a people? Should our parliamentarians reorient their love of country? Should we come together as one nation and leave behind the petty issues that separate us? Shouldn't we all begin to think about how we can offer constructive criticisms that will move our nation forward? Should we “check ourselves first before we point fingers at others? Shouldn’t we think about the legacy we can leave to the next generation to come?

Who else can help the government educate our people?
Think about these things my friend.
