I have read the comments from top to bottom and I see the bile , venom and hatred some misguided people have for Asantes in particular all because the Akan language spearheaded by Asante dialect has blossomed to become the language of choice for majority of Ghanaians at home and abroad. This has brought about resentment from non Akans . They are powerless to effect any change as they see their culture and language sinking into oblivion. Here in the USA , I have seen non Akans seriously learning and polishing their Twi in order to make a living especially as pastors. Those shouting their voice hoarse against the use of Twi in any subject are just wasting their time and they know it . They should join the bandwagon so we will be one people ,one language with one destiny.

A lady friend of my who took a lot interest in the course narrated how it helped him to secure a working visa in abroad because of the vivid explanation he gave her boss on the adinkra symbols and meanings especially the GYE Nyame. Since then i have been buying Ashanti books for about six years now... Emefa Gakpetor has now gotten married to an Ashanti guy from kumawu.

Pls nana akomea speaks Twi but he is not Ashanti. He speaks Ga fluently but bears no Ga name and Ewe well. I bear personally bears full Asante name but I am of Ewe originated and I wish one day I will have a piece of space to share with you how i was been treated in Ewe at some office but when i started speaking impeccable Ewe language they were all surprised. You want an Anthem in one common language but English is never and can never be be your language. So bring up the common language of Ghana for the sake of the Anthem. There is no use in insulting one another on matters of national interest because by it, we can never build the nation. One thing that must be understood is; "Your opponent is not your enemy therefore opposition party is not a party of enemies. Opposition is there to help in establishing the common interest of the Whole populace.

If it is the twi that worries sincere patriotic Ghanaians who may for the purpose of defeating tribalism and ethnocentrism for national cohesion are against the “Yen ara asaase ni” - which means ,This land is our own” let us translate the “Yen ara asaase ni” into english. Whilst the current Anthem strenthens the believe of individual Ghanaian patriotic or not that the country`s development and strength is based on God`s help and blessings (Everything by God), the This land is our own” strengthens the believe that every Ghanaian has a responsibility of contributing his or her quota to the development and strength of Ghana at his or her time. It is factual that God helps those who help themselves and God does not love Ghana more than other countries to help and bless only Ghana in its competition with other countries. The two songs can be merged to God helps and blesses individaul Ghanaians in their effort to contribute to the development of the country.

The spirit of the responsibility of all the owners of the to develop it is more real than the believe that Ghana will develop with God`s help and blessings.It is very necessary because the spirit of collective onwneship and responsibility is failing in Ghana and that has to be change. The behaviour of the leaders is a proof. Do the natural resources of the land not belong to all Ghanaians including the yet to be borned Ghanaians? Is it therefore not the responsibility of the present generation to use the proceeds of nation left to us by the gone generation to benefit the to come generation? You are wrong for the land belongs to us and the yet to be borned Ghanaians. Your understanding that the land belongs to us is an evedence enough that it is necessary to change the Anthem to the “Yen ara asaase ni” as it stresses that very fact that it only our turn to contribute our quorta just like the genenation before us to maintain the land. Honestly Nana Akomea and the likes with their tribal bigotry amazes me a lot. We are Ghanaian from Tumu to Half Asinine, Aflao to Bowku, Gambaga to Accra and that is what matters. The very Ephraim Amu, composer of the de facto anthem Nana Akomea is referring to was a Ewe from Peki in the Volta Region. The very de facto anthem was written not only in Ewe, but the late Mr. Ephraim Amu for purposes of National cohesion saw the need to write this also in Twi and have it translated into Dagbani, Ga, and name it. I think I have head the Dagbani version, though I can't remember the very lyrics. For Goodness sake, we have more pressing developmental issues to deal with. Ghana will remain Ghana, long after we are gone, just as our predecessors. Bigotry, tribal sentiments will get us nowhere. On this path, we will end up like Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and the likes and then we shall be no longer Ghanaians, because there shall be no Ghana for anyone, Akan, Ewe, and Dagomba, Ga, Fante nor anyone. We shall be refugees feed with yellow corns, and sleeping under UNHCR nylon tents in the middle of a desert somewhere. A word to a wise, they say is enough.
