I wish Ghanaians can put a brave face and ignore this clean up nonsense by NDC. I have a question for the Accra Mayor. When was the last time someone came to knock his door in the US and told him to go out and clean the street etc? Also, as someone who had lived in the US for sometime, what proposal/suggestion had he put out to help arrest this sanitation problem?
What is preventing NDC to use this sanitation issue to create jobs for some of the idle hands? With good pay, there are people who are prepared to go for it.

Ghana is not the US but we Ghanaians are trying to emulate the accomplishments of the US. We can learn from how the Us and other developed countries maintain clean streets and neighborhoods. There's nothing wrong with learning from the best so that we can be better. Moving forward, let's recycle our garbage - paper, metals, plastics, glass and organic waste. Yes we can and it will save us a lot of money.

Why can't we learn to keep a clean environment as well? I have lived in the US for almost 50 years and I can remember the 'Keep America Clean' campaign by the government in the 60's. The citizenry cooperated and littering was reduced drastically. It is a lot easier, healthier and less costly to maintain a clean environment. But we have to instill a "sanitation awareness" otherwise all effort will be in vain. I believe that is what the National Sanitation Day exercise aims to accomplish. Recycling and all the other stuff will follow. Let's learn more than merely screaming "I have paid my taxes....", if that is even true.

This Mahama NDC gov't has never been serious indeed, the P(NDC)party has never exhibited the seriousness required for governance since 1979 till date.
It's the height of madness for the masses to pay taxes to the gov't and the taxes are looted and stolen by the gov't, and that same gov't would turn around and ask the citizenry to clean the environment.
Such madness can only occur in dysfunctional, failed and banana states.
The country's efforts to launch and maintain environmental cleanliness would be greatly enhanced by the gov't making the funds available to the MMDA's via the District Assemblies Common Fund which has been in arrears for anywhere over 4years, so the Assemblies can take the necessary steps to ensure a clean environment.
Prosper Bani we are told was domiciled in Canada, before taking up the position of Chief of Staff.
When he was in Canada, how did the Canadians maintain environmental cleanliness? Did Prosper Bani learn anything from the Canadians about how to maintain environmental cleanliness and if he did, what did he learn?
Ghanaians are sick and tired of a lazy gov't which thinks governance is about stealing the resources of the state instead of channeling it into the structures that have been created to ensure effectiveness of governance at the local level. This is irresponsible leadership.
If the Mahama NDC gov't is tired which is obviously the case, they should resign and spare Ghanaians all this mindless rhetoric.
The Mahama NDC gov't should release the DACF for the MMDA's to work to clean the environment working in concert with the waste management companies and spare Ghanaians this tomfoolery.
From the exercises that have been conducted so far, have the Waste departments of the MMDA's found it prudent to clear the rubbish that are even left by the road side?
Clearly this looting gov't cannot do the job and need to resign for a much capable team to take over the reins of gov't.
