KNUST failed to rusticate and report to the police a female student who beat up her roommate; the lecturers have been bought. It has been said that many lecturers lack teaching methodologies. What should be the minimum requirement when recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults. Some may be married and some may be business executives.

The requirement for lecturing in the Universities now is PhD but does it really mean that a PhD holder is a good lecturer or could be a good lecturer? This is where I share your concern for every lecture in all our universities to be made to have pedagogical skills. UCC, UEW and UDS could organise this course for lecturers as Postgraduate Diploma in Education. I suggested these three institutions because they run courses in education.
Why a university student is punished the way you described, beats my imagination and why a student was beaten by a room mate and no action was taken makes me look for answers too.

This man has no conscience or integrity he only fakes his way into everything but least knows what entails to be called a head of state. In broad day light in his party office; officials who were conducting democratic exercise were butchered in his name.

Just as has been his demeanour of keeping silent on all crimes levelled against him from being certificate less, Drug baron, Drug user, and womaniser, son of a traitor, drill ship thievery and his involvement in the release of drug baron from jail only Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo can tell; till now he has made no comment about this heinous act.

His public speeches are out of date and have no connection with current trends social developments. He is more manual than mechanical. I wonder if he knows how to use computers or modern applications soft wares. Ghana needs to move forward we don’t need a retarded man who has no achievement in life than living on ill gotten booty bequeathed to him by his father. He thinks democracy means insulting and using foul language against your opponent and cause disaffection in society forgetting that there is something called conscience. It is God who makes people to discern and cause changes for the good of mankind. If Nana Addo has a clear conscience God will make his wish come through but Alas!!! It will be well for Sodom and Gomorrah than for him to force his will on the people. Unless the later generation sincerely shows repentance and move away from the odious deeds of their fathers; the wrath of God shall be visited upon them.

The only clues left is finding out how the crime was committed, especially in this case, the use of the exclusive VVIP Presidential lounge, the use of an SPD escourt vehicle, the use of a carrier to deliver the luggage unto the aircraft, those are the areas that can unmask the real "powerful persons". There are two issues, 1) how lax and non existent drug enforcement is in Ghana especially for those with the backing of VIPs 2) That there is a lack of sincerity by politicians to tackle this issue.

The fact the she operated for 10 years means that she is likely to have come into contact with "big men" of both parties.

Do Ghanaians want Ghana to become the cocaine hub of Africa, if not, let's stop the party politics monsense and hold people to account, irrespective of party.

The lawyer for Nayele in pleading her case made some interestingly startling revelations which goes to show that, the Mahama NDC gov't has been badly exposed and further buttresses the point raised by Dr. Aning to the effect that, the "powerful people" will never be found.
What were these mitigating factors? According to her lawyer;

1. Nayele came into contact with powerful politicians in 2004 and her life changed dramatically. She travelled extensively with influential people as their companion.
Some have misconstrued or rather mischievously taken this statement to mean that, since it was in 2004 and the NPP gov't was in power then, those connections to the powerful people had to be in the NPP, and therefore by some stretch, the NPP was complicit in this matter. However, Nayele Lawyer's subsequent point completely debunks and makes absolute nonsense of this assertion. Why do we say this? According to her(Nayele)Lawyer;

2.Nayele has remained connected to powerful politicians who are currently in power in Ghana, her lawyer said.

This goes to show that, indeed Nayele has had very strong connections to very powerful people since 2004 and this is without question.
Her role since 2004 has been as a companion of the powerful people, travelling and providing companionship for the powerful people and experiencing all the trappings of the lavish lifestyle of the rich and powerful. She was hooked.
This led to the most revealing and rather profound factual admission by her lawyer to the effect that, those powerful people whom she had been providing companionship whilst travelling with them since 2004, were now, interestingly, CURRENTLY IN POWER IN GHANA.
Now that is exceptionally significant, since initial reports about this cocaine saga, had it that, the activities of Nayele Ameteh aka Ruby Mahama aka Angel really took off in 2009 when there was a change in gov't and the Mahama NDC gov't was sworn, thereby serving to transition Nayele's initial role of companionship to one of the most brazen, one of the most confident and one of the most notorious drug dealing daredevil's ever, indeed, an "Untouchable" in the dark world of drug trafficking.
Now who wouldn't exhibit those traits if there were very, very powerful people who are currently in power in Ghana, and had their absolute backing in such wrongful escapades to try to smuggle through the UK borders, the most purest form of high grade cocaine ever to be nabbed by the UK border patrol at Heathrow airport?
All these then brings to the fore the issue of political will which has been sadly lacking in the Mahama NDC gov't to arrest this canker of narcotic drug trade with all it's attendant problems for the end users of these toxic substances and for country's which serve as the oasis of everything cocaine in terms of the security, growth and development of such countries, and in this case Ghana.
Does the Mahama NDC gov't have the political will and would it exercise this will, to address this canker of illicit drug trade in their gov't by ensuring that the powerful people who their acts of omission or commission are turning Ghana into a NARCO-STATE or the rather frightening position of Dr. Aning to the effect that, the "powerful people" will never be found would stand, and what does that bode for our dear country Ghana?

Why then ask the government to find them when you know they'll never be found? Unless you react to only what you hear without piecing the puzzle, you would readily understand that what convicted drug trafficker Ruby stated in her quest for a lenient sentence is in line with what most people who plead guilty often do, that is, lie through their rotten teeth. The court in the UK is not going to waste its time trying to determine if Ruby is telling the truth, for she has already pleaded guilty. If your Opposition Party really cares, it will rather ask for a complete investigation of how the VIIP center was allowed to be compromised by the drug traffickers, and you will certainly have the support of many in Ghana. But relying on unsubstantiated statements of a convicted drug trafficker and making wild noise is a complete waste of your time.

In most cases, the accused, knowing that they have their plea passport in hand, simply spit out garbage for the court to consume. The prosecutor and the courts are no fools, though,. The fool is the accused who thinks he or she can mislead the court or the prosecutor. Drug traffickers and most criminals are liars who'll refrain from providing truthful ststements, knowing well that they can get lenient ssentencing merely by pleading guilty. It's a shame that this loudmouth politician does not understand the games criminals play in court, and is relying on half-baked court submissions by Ruby in carrying out his false propaganda peddling in Ghana. Interesting to see a blind man trying to lead people across a busy city street.
