If it were in the olden days, he would have been gotten rid of, one way or the other. His total hatred of the people he rules is quite overwhelming. What has made the situation even more frustrating is the fact that he's surrounded himself with amanhenes of equally dubious characters who are more than ready to kowtow to his evil deeds. Just imagine a king whose rumours of his death was celebrated widely by his subjects just some few years ago, and you will understand how much the Asantes despise this king.

The Europeans started to challenge authority centuries ago and have ruled the world ever since(Challenge of the Papacy;Oliver Cromwell;Age of Enlightenment;Industrial Revolution; End of Slave Trade;American Independence and the French and Russian revolutions).

The only way we as Africans can advance is to probe and challenge authority,especially antiquated institutions and search for new ideas - scientific and non scientific to improve our environments and communities.KEEP ON CHALLENGING !

Nkrumah was cast in the mold of a person like Dr Martin Luther king. They were meant to lead Africans and blacks in the diaspora out of a period of darkness. Like Moses, he was not meant to see the "promise land". Luther King achieved his purpose, and had to go. Nkrumah achieved his mission but decided to stay on to become a life president instead of handing the baton to the next "Aaron" to complete the journey. I am not saying he should have passed the baton to the UP tradition. Far from that. That intransigence on the part of Nkrumah tipped the country into an abyss of total darkness, and we wandered aimlessly for a period of time before what you could consider as a "saviour" came to do a total clean up.
This is my take on the whole Nkrumah issue. It is based on any ideology but on my own personal observations.

The difference between the Asantehene and the Okyehene,in my humble opinion, is that whereas the former talks on national issues with utmost circumspection and decorum as a King, the latter does so by recourse to some level of hatred and bitterness as disgruntled politicians do. Please refer for instance, to the latter's reaction when the presidency described the Kyebi as the headquarters of Galamsey!!! He responded a few days latter by saying the assertion was untrue and that Kyebi was rather the headquarters of of bad roads and other state-owned infrastructures in the country!!! I trust the Asantehene would not have reacted in such an undiplomatic manner even if he wanted to state the same facts to the presidency. Here lies the difference between these two notable and respectable kings of our time!
