If the government doesn't want anybody to talk about the exorbitant cost of the interchange, it should have come clean from the beginning; from the bidding process to the award of the contract.

If you have an open bidding process in which three or more companies bid for a project, and the submitted tender documents opened in front of all representatives of the contractors that took part in the process, and you award the contract to one of the companies based on best technical specifications and reasonable lower cost, the amount you award the contract will be known to even the other contractors and it will not be difficult for the government to release it.

How can we award contract to a company and the work is ongoing without knowing exactly how much we've awarded it, and we're still talking about projected figures and so on? I believe Nana is hitting the nail on the head. There is too much obscurity and lack of transparency in awarding the project, and we're afraid that Ghanaians may not be getting value for their money.

My Advice:
REGIONAL PLANNING 101
***Construct a water and sewage system. Waste Processing Facility. Biomass Power Plant. Regional Government building. Urban Transit system. Contact Sumitomo Corporation in Japan for assistance.
1. You have to plan the city with vertical and horizontal streets,.street names and addresses. This is the first thing you must invest in. It will. CUT down efficiency by more than 90percent. A more efficient city will lead to more revenue. Increased tax collection,.efficient policewoman etc
2. Build a kumasi comvention center. For all job fairs,.concerts, business symposiums,.trsde fairs, car shows etc
3. Work on drainage, water and electricity
4. Ashanti region sovereign Wealth Fund:A percentage of proceeds from oil, gold, diamonds, cocoa revenues etc should be deposited yearly in a Ghana Sovereign Wealth Fund account, a national 401k. This money will never be touched by any govt, period! This money will be invested all over the world in socially constructive projects. Projects to be excluded can include chemical nuclear projects, environmentally disastrous projects, product based exclusions, tobacco, walmart(human rights abuses). The ROI from this fund will be used to supplement infrastructure projects in the region.
5. Go.for loans to supplement development projects in the region.
6. Kumasi city hall/metropolitan assembly must have a design facelift
7. Every dce, mayor, regional minister, cabinet minister, president must play a game.of MONOPOLY as part of their training.
8. If these few things are done with discipline and dignity. Real renaissance of change will begin to surface in our lovely nation called Ghana.
9. Cultural Museum
10. City Research Library
11. 2 Modernized City Market on each side of the city
12. A Casino, Racetracks, betting facility: to bring in revenue
13. Hotel, restaurants, barbershop, dry cleaners, comedy and niteclubs next Sports Stadiums

The fact of the matter is that there is no respect for law in that country which is the reason why this man sometimes try to let them know they need to respect the law by the actions he has been taking but with the backing of this DAILY GARBAGE newspaper and other useless newspapers they will continue as usual,they have no respect for siren,it is not a law in that country and even if it is they don't respect it,they hardly pull over for siren because it is a country where every car is emergency car blowing siren all over the place.

Could you imagine even a lawyer behaving that way?
He provoked the police officer and the police officer decided to teach him a lesson by shooting his tires not to drive away and he did that because he thinks he is a lawyer as if lawyers are above the law.

The only problem I have is he allowing his bodyguard to leave the vehicle to go after a driver not close to where he was,somebody who was with him to protect him instead of just try and get the license plate of the driver or call for police to follow that driver and pull him over.

I wasn't at the scene of event between the lawyer and the Mayor leading to a deflated tyre but i have seen the Mayor personally jump off his car and bolted a common watchman at Sakaman Total station which was yet to be completed. Togther with a convoy of journalist and police men. I asked my self, couldn't he have asked his boys to do that instead of descending low to per sue a common watchman for a reason best known to him. Maybe he needed that for his camera. but Leaders set good examples for the younger ones to follow. We are the next generation and we will be following your steps. You are just a fiduciary to the power given you so utilize it well because one day you will be held accountable if not at Public Accounts Committee then in Heaven. Thanks

I just read the interview that lawyer granted the media in which that idiot who called himself a lawyer said he followed the mayor to confront him for using a siren which he thinks was improper.
Can you believe that a lawyer will do something like that,even if the law says a mayor cannot use a siren which in the first place the law didn't say who are you to confront anybody let alone a mayor using a siren,as a lawyer don't you know where to report such things but to go and confront the mayor,is that what we understand in democracy?
That lawyer should be arrested instead of the police officer he is calling on the police service to fire,you can't confront anybody no matter on the road let alone a mayor in his official car performing his official duties,even if you don't like him you have no right whatsoever to do that not even to an ordinary citizen of the country,the police man did the right thing by shooting his tires,his job is to protect the mayor and if he feels the life of the person he is protecting is in danger he has every right to do whatever he can to protect the man.

It is only the government that can say who uses siren and who doesn't,it is not any lawyer or any citizen,a lawyer should know where to fire t his grievances

I guarantee Dr. Vanderpuije attributes his management skills to his college days, work and living in the best democratic nation on earth the USA but would not know the first thing about expectations from a leader in a civilized democratic system of governance. It is not good enough for Ghana and Ghanaians to settle for the bottom of the barrel candidates or elected mediocre officials because they happen to carry classroom earned credentials.

I will ask of those who can afford to get in airplanes and take a ride over Ghanaian skies and they will see the rather unplanned development nature of the city. The path to true development comes via controlled and regulated planned land development, availability of water, drainage and sewage systems, telecommunications infrastructure, bituminous or asphalt network of roadways and side road linkages, effective government run transport system and accountability and transparency with revenues and expenditures of government.

The AMA boss along with the political and elite educated class in this nation of ours have built homes and acquired properties for most of which sits in unplanned communities with inadequate roads and or continued flow of electricity, water, drainage and sewage system and effective address locating system that will help government and other social agencies to provide life, health and safety services to people. To this day the AMA has not been able to clear hawkers and petty traders who occupy a third of the streets around “makola” market area and the central business zones in Accra even as the AMA continue to extort money from taxi drivers and other privately owned transport operators. I have never understood why some in Accra hold this Vanderpuije guy is high esteem and or pay him the salary he is unfit to collect and or the unchecked powers given to a common embezzler or thief from the Carolina in the USA by society.
